    Federer
Hey Tennis pros out there is Roger Federer as good as a bet can be on Sunday. Would any of you bet on Roddick straight up? What will the line be?

    It's -730/+614.

    I backed Federer at -115. Proof: http://forum.sbrforum.com/tennis-han...mpionship.html

That's two tournaments in a row I've had the favorite going into the match at incredible odds. Federer +1150 at French Open and he ended up favored over Soderling, and now this.

I also had him in the US Open future, where he closed favored over Murray.

probably, but ever since kinger said roddick was gonna lose 1st round, i had this feeling roddick was gonna win wimbledon... so now i gotta keep going with that as ive played him most of the way... including today!

the guy just says fukk it and goes with it.... me, i try and play a couple a day (non parlays for now lol)

Come on, man. Fed is what 60-1 since 2003 on grass, and a 5-time Wimbledon Champ, his pedigree at this event is the same as Rafa at the French, and he'd defeated Rafa in the finals of Wimby too. Just because Nadal was better on clay all those years and snatched ONE huge win against Federer (a 5 setter over a bit of light that they were close to calling off) doesn't mean all of a sudden the best player in the world on grass would lose again to the same guy.

lou i know you love fed and so do i. It was killing me to see him lose to Nadal at wimby last year. i was so pissed off that day. I just think Nadal was on the verge of total domination and the injury screwed up his plans.

Maybe so but this wasn't just some fluke injury where Nadal fell or something on the court. Reason his knees are so jacked up is because of his style of play, I've never seen such a physically taxing style of play where a player was so dependent on being able to run every damn ball down all the time, every point this guy plays on serve or return he's ready to act like it's a marathon.

Federer's all court game, his dominant serve, and the fact that his preparation, game-plans, and style of play have allowed him to avoid major injury throughout his career indicate he is simply overall a better tennis player than Nadal is. Nobody can sustain Rafa's style of play, it's just someone who ran very very hot and dominated on clay, had some success outside of clay and people were ready to crown his ass, forgetting that Federer has made 21 straight Grand Slam Semi Finals.

It's unfortunate that Nadal's legs appear to be giving out earlier than expected, but I don't know of one tennis handicapping evaluator that could go on record saying Nadal would have a full career considering how he plays.

Reminds me of a great talented QB with no offensive line that will just get hammered into oblivion until his body gives out, that's whats happening here. Nadal REALLY must improve his serve, shorten his points, and develop a style of play that is less than 110% full speed all the time. Even if he did maintain this style of play and avoid injury, as soon he gets a little bit older and loses some speed, his style of play would not be near as effective against younger and quicker opponents. He will not have an answer for younger opponents like Federer does because his overall style of tennis is one dimensional, it was effective for a great while, but it's not going to get him 15+ Slams like Federer's style has gotten him.
