#9Leaning Colorado based on numbers alone, but travel factor plus Freeland on three days rest has me passing.
Model only has Cubs 52% (-108) under neutral conditions.Comment -

#12That certainly true and biggest thing that gives me pause on the over as I been considering waiting and hoping Lester has strong start and I can get a good over live. Never really know how starters gonna perform coming out of the pen, some take to it really well, others kinda struggle when being put in that role. For me I just don’t see cubs having much chance to go far cause this day and age I’m not sure you can win without having at least a rock solid pen. Stros were able to have starters perform great out of pen last season so maybe cubs can follow that formula but they don’t exactly have the starters w the nasty stuff Stros did to play that role.Originally posted by ans61201Not so sure. In a do or die I’d think everyone is avaialble
For rox I’m not sure about trusting freeland on short rest, 1st thing I’m gonna do when I get a chance is look and see how he has been on short rest in his career but don’t think he has done it much. I’m not all that worried about travel, these guys play literally every day and off travel all the time so just don’t see that being a big deal..
Haven’t seen the total yet or what the wind doing in wrigley today but regardless I lean to over.Comment -

#15Well, you never see this kind of travel during season so it is a factor. Crossing two time zones without a day off.Originally posted by 2daBankI’m far more worried about freeland on short rest than the travel.Comment -

#16The fact it doesn’t happen does not in any way mean it will be a factor. Adrenaline carries teams in these kind of spots more often than not imo, I think it would be a bigger factor if they had to play another game 2marro when the adrenaline wears off.Originally posted by LT ProfitsWell, you never see this kind of travel during season so it is a factor. #17So they play 10,000 regular season games in 6 months and they can't give the teams a day off to travel for a playoff game in case of this very situation???

#20To be fair, Monday was a non-scheduled tiebreaker whereas as Wild Card dates for each league are set couple of years in advance. MLB unlikely to move those given given TV ad revenue.Originally posted by maggiethebestdogSo they play 10,000 regular season games in 6 months and they can't give the teams a day off to travel for a playoff game in case of this very situation???

#24The TV schedule could be set 2,000 years ahead and it shouldn't matter
When setting that schedule just factor in the very realistic possibility that there could be a 2 team tiebreaker for the division
Holy shit, seriously??
That is really too difficult to do??
Especially when the regular season drags on forever??
A one day cushion is too much???

#26I wouldn't say "only" -130 when model has -108. Under normal conditions with normal rest, Freeland grades out better than Lester. I am talking purely numbers and not factoring in post-season experience.Originally posted by TheLockColorado has to travel, has to play on the road and their starter is pitching on short rest and Cubs are only -130ish?

#28Besides, AL teams set their rotations at end of season based on scheduled date, so would be totally unfair to get moved up a day. It is not A's/Yankees problem that there was NL tiebreaker.Comment -

#30I mean I get it sucks, but to act like it’s unbearable for modern day athletes with masseuses, private planes, and millions in the bank is a little overboard.
Sports is about adversity and who handles it best. Ideal, no. Both have to play under same condition.
Want to avoid it, don’t jog down to first base in game 61 of regular season because “it’s just one game”Comment -

#31Totally agree. Way too much being made of it imo.. during season when teams have a rough travel/scheduling spot it always gm 2 of the series where I look for it to have a effect, that 1st game I think adrenaline carries you. I recall yanks playing Sunday night game w hours of rain delays then having to play in Tampa next morning basically and their plane didn’t show up till 3-4 in morning and they were fine, granted no time zone in that but so what? At least once a week I pull a all nighter and go to work just fine in morning, sometimes even better, it that next day it catches up!!Originally posted by ans61201I mean I get it sucks, but to act like it’s unbearable for modern day athletes with masseuses, private planes, and millions in the bank is a little overboard.

#33Not saying it is the greatest tragedy that has ever been bestowed upon mankind, but it is pretty stupid not to factor in one extra day into the schedule for a known possibility of a tie, ESPECIALLY when your regular season goes on forever
