Gruden is poised for something big, particularly at offensive skill positions.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the Raiders (3-13) are desperate for talent. They need more stars to win more games and to accompany franchise quarterback Derek Carr on the Las Vegas marquees for their move to Sin City, set for now in 2020.
But Gruden is starting to be linked to Steelers receiver Antonio Brown and free agent running back Le’Veon Bell. And there are plenty of whispers that the Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. also may be on Gruden’s radar, with Oakland using some combination of its three first-round picks (Nos. 4, 24 and 27) as attractive trade chips.
Regardless, Gruden seems poised to make some major splashes that will shake up the league.
And any blockbuster Raiders move might be only the beginning of a spring filled with big NFL business, with the San Francisco 49ers (No. 2 overall) also looking for a No. 1 receiver -- but with no interest in Brown -- the Jets (No. 4) open to possibly trading back, and teams like the Giants potentially considering a trade up for a quarterback.
