Dell wants to charge me 125 bucks for router setup
i tried and failed, id appreciate if anyone could help on im or something

its a linksys wireless g broadband router and the instructions on the cd were different then the handbook because it said it already detected a router.

i just got a new laptop dell studio 15 with windows vista 64 bit and mcafee which i think needed to be disabled but no setting on here to disable it i think

If you plug in the router to the modem, and power up the modem then the router, then open the network adapter on the pc/laptop, you should be ok.

Let me give you a hand:

        1) Unplug the router from the pc
        2) Press the reset buton (backside) for 5 seconds
        3) Unplug the power cord and wait 10 seconds and power it on again
        4) wait until all lights stop blinking
        5) plug in a cable from the pc to one of the router's port, leave the internet port unplugged
        6) wait a few seconds until you get at the tray bar the confirmation of the Local Area Connection running
        7) Open up a browser window and type in the router's default address, which is 192.168.1.1.
        8) Leave the user name blank and type in the password (by default is admin)
        9) set it up as DHCP enabled
10)plug in the modem to the router (blue cord)
        11) check the 'Status' to verify if the router was assigned an IP address, if not call your ISP and give them the router's MAC address (router's back panel) to link it to your modem.

        This should fix it. GL

192.168.1.1 did nothing but a web search and none of that worked also, i need to be using both ethernet cables for it to work like one going from pc to router and another from router to laptop before i power up

contact linksys....can you see the network? I ADVISE downloading the driver from the linksys website if you cannot. I had the same problem.

JJ should make a video of this. He should call Dell and ask them how to setup a router.

Dell: How can I hellllp you, my name is Paul Rogers (And it's really an Indian guy in India)

JJ: Let me talk to your fvckin' manager.

              Dell: Thank you, come again!
