tennis bettors how would you hedge this (roddick future)
before the round of 16 i picked up a roddick to win wimbledon ticket at 25 to 1

now murray is -315ish against him in the semis, and i believe murray will likely win

i wana hedge with murray to bring back some profit but if roddick wins i still have to hedge again likely with federer

    what would you do?

I got a future on Roddick aswell from before Wimbledon started, didn't really think he'd get this far but I'm thinking of hedging it aswell.

I had a vision of a Roddick in the final but I also had a vision of Kalovic in the final

karayilan you must've gotten incredible odds before wimbledon started because andy was in the same bracket as del potro, the 5 seed..........i waited until del potro lost then grabbed the future on andy

I wouldn't hedge just yet. See if he can beat Murray, then hedge against Federer. Good Luck.

It was something stupid like +8000, I need to check it in the statement, if he gets past Murray we'll both be having a nice pay day.

Murray has been playing great though and has the home crowd on his side in addition to a great return.

The best case scenario would be Roddick vs Haas final

I'm rooting for Roddick but I can't bet against Murray. Take the moneyline on Murray to cover your prop on Roddick.

I liked Hewitt's chances more against Murray. Hewitt is a better returner than Roddick and is also better on grass, Murray is a top 3 returner in the world, he'll be able to break Roddick and I think he will more than he himself gets broken.

Same spot I am in. Had Roddick at +950 before Wimbledon began. Don't like the price for Murray though. I'll probably "hedge" the Roddick future by parlaying Federer & Murray together. That price is better to me.

I dont think you can really hedge to lock in profits. Your 25-1 price is not that far off current odds, based on Matchbook prices. You can still get Roddick at 16-1 to win it all or bet against him at 27-1.

I also thought Hewitt's game would be harder for Murray to play against, both these players like to play tennis, its more a game of skill then just serve and hope the other guy screws up on their serve. From a neutrals point of you that would have been an amazing game.

Murray's return could neutralize Roddicks serve but Murrays serve and especially 2nd serve isn't that great. Roddick is more than just a server, he plays a solid game, Murray has the advantage but Roddick isn't a huge underdog in this game, he does stand a decent chance.

Lou i dont know if lleyton is better than roddick on grass. sure, lleyton won in 02 but that was before the rise of king federer, he has 3 quarters and a semi since

roddick made the semis in 03 and the finals in 04 and 05 where he lost to the greatest player of all time, he also made the quarters in 07 and is in the semis this yr

they are at worst, even on grass, but i give the slight nod to andy, and by beating lleyton today that proves something in his favor as well

thanks to everyone for offering advice. here's what i decided to do:

after thinking about it some more, i believe murray is the -300 and up favorite because of the venue, he being the crowd fave and fans on his side, etc, i also think roddick is playing some of the best tennis he has played in yrs thanks to stefanki as his coach, i really believe that roddick has a much better than 1 to 3 chance to win this match, i'm not saying it should be a PK, i just think he should not be as big a dog as he really has a great chance to win, the crowd should not get to him, in individual sports the crowd does not mean as much, plus it's a daytime match so that should help roddick's cause

so right now i've got .5 units to win 12.5 on roddick with the future

i just bet murray to win wimbledon at 1 unit to win 3

here's my thinking: i did not want to bet murray at -300 to win the match because i believe the odds are too high. if roddick wins, i lose 3 units and can only win 9.5 in the final where i would like have to lay the heavy chalk on federer just to win 1 unit, meaning i lose the 3 on murray and the .5 on roddick

by taking murry at 1 unit to win 3 if he wins wimbledon, i only lose 1 unit if roddick wins and still can win 11.5 on him in the final vs most likely federer, but if murray wins, i lose the .5 on roddick future but still have a very live dog in the final vs federer, murray will probably be a -350 or so dog to federer in the final i am thinking so getting 3 to 1 does not kill me

best case scenario for me is roddick wins and haas wins then i'll be sitting pretty, even if murray and haas win i'll be looking decent in that one with murray 1 unit to win 3 in the final vs haas who will be the dog to murray

so much left to happen, but i simply liked my chances with taking murray to win the whole thing rather than lay the 3 to 1 price right now

                            GO RODDICK and GO HAAS

There's only one winner in the serve/return balance. In their previous meetings, Murray holds serve 88% of the time, Roddick 80%. On top of that, 6 of those 8 games were when Murray was 18/19, and his serve has improved massively since then (not to mention the rest of his game).

Murray's 2nd serve may be weaker, but he's utterly dominant in rallies also. Previous meetings Roddick wins only 43% of points on his 2nd serve - ie he's getting destroyed.

i am totally on the andy murray train now...........my first instinct was murray, then i thought about it for a while and was leaning roddick, but after doing the research i am completely jumping on the andy murray bandwagon and here we go..............i added another 2 units on murray to win the wimbledon, so now ive got 3 units to win 9 on andy no matter who he plays, and while i really hate admitting it, i am on the tommy haas bandwagon as well, i want to see him upset fed in about 3 hrs so i can make a potentially very nice payday

i cannot believe i am going to root for murray to beat our american and for haas to be GOD, but i have to, i have too much at stake...............i need murray and haas big time.............but if the more likely event of federer, ie GOD wins and murray wins, i'm still sitting on a ton of murray +300 to win the whole thing on sunday....but still
