Sorry OTW, but I gotta root against you on this one. I really don't respect the way you've played this thing. Completely legal to do it that way you did, but also completely cheesy.

The lines are locked in at whatever they are when LT posts them at 11:30am. All OTW has done is pick out the teams or totals with the biggest line movement in their favor and bet them right before 1st pitch. It's using the rules to your advantage and competely legal as I said. But it's not realistic. I wish I could find a bookie that would give me lines at gametime that were locked in at 11:30am....usually at least 7 or 8 hours before I'm actually placing the wager. Kind of makes a farce out of the competition if he wins $150 doing that, imo. But I'm not in the running anymore, so what do I care.... good luck OTW.

Yeah... I don't think anybody in their right mind would debate the merits of getting the best line if you have the advantage of betting off lines from 8-10 hours earlier. LOL. Where's the skill in that? The challenge is in getting the best line in real life and real time.... or correctly predicting outcomes. He hasn't done either and he's gonna win a handicapping contest. Whatever.

Jello, that's the farce of these stale lines contests, you can't hate on Herman for recognizing the most effective strategy and playing a poorly conceived contest to his advantage. When one enters a competition, the objective is to win while following the rules, not to demonstrate an entirely different skill. To win at SBR contests in the mainstream sports, you just need to chase steam. I'm sure that will all change once SBRPicks.com is active and people are making contest plays from live lines and the software does the grading. Until then, more power to anyone who can snag some money from SBR by exploiting the flaws in the system.

Good points Scholar. I'm not hating on him personally for it. It was completely legal and smart strategy. Maybe I'm just a little bitter because I was posting my contest picks in the mornings before LT even put out the lines for that day, and after about 20 days I was up 19+ units and had about a 3 or 4 unit cushion over the entire field. Then I went ice cold and the bottom fell out.
But you're right. I can't really disagree with anything you said.

I know how that feels, Jello. I feel for ya, it sucks to have a great lead and then you hit a cold streak. I was the Top Earner on TennisInsight for weeks and then hit a cold patch and I haven't been able to even keep pace with the guy that passed me. You feel like you're swimming against the stream, and the effort you expend to catch up is three times what you did to get the lead to begin with. You just gotta accept that this is a tough game to beat, and as the Romans said to their conquering generals:
"Remember always, all glory is fleeting."
