Not a lot of difference between these two in the 1st leg in Slovakia , although the game was played with no spectators. The possession was 52 - 48 % for Zrinjski and shots on goal were 5 - 4 . Trnava took advantage of a 2nd yellow , and red , to midfielder Cirjak in the 69th min and scored 5 minutes later against 10 men. Trnava also aquired a last minute red to midfielder Chanturishvili , so both will miss todays game. The big difference in todays game is that it will be played in Bosnia on Zrinjski's home turf , where they amassed a 12 - 3 - 1 record. Trnava are a very average road side with a 9 - 2 - 5 record travelling. I will take the home side who need to overturn a 1 - 0 deficit , at a very juicy price.

Going by past experience , Montreal have taken this competition seriously and field a very competitive side. They are in great form in the MLS at the moment , while VCR have lost 3 of their last 4.

Cluj have continued to build a solid club the past few years. In the past Steau Bucarest were the measuring stick for any team competing in Romania. The new kids on the block are now CFR Cluj. They have a bankroll that is on par with Steau ( both in the $24 million range ). Todays league opener is against a perennial relegation battler in Botosani ( $7 million value ). Cluj tend to seek an early lead and rely on a stellar defense to finish the job.

Xamax are a newly promoted side to the Super League after dominating the 2nd division ( Challenge League ) by 21 points. Luzern finished 3rd in the Super League and earned themselves a Europa League spot this season. Luzern were a fortress wall defending home field last season, and it was very rare to get them at even or plus money when playing there. For all that Xamax accomplished last season , its a big step up today.

Vendsyssel play a regular 4 - 2 - 4 - 1 formation that creates plenty of odd man rushes in attack. Traditionally it was used to place emphasis on a more conservative approach through a possession oriented midfield. In the way that Vendsyssel use the formation , it creates a press with the two flanking midfielders , but leaves them susceptible to counter attacks with plenty of space in behind. Although Esbjerg arent a very offensive minded team , the style of play from their opponents should create an open game.
