I wouldn't call African teams a joke. Unfortunately they tend to have a lack of depth and invariably they have 1 or 2 weak spots in their teams. They also tend to have coaching issues because it's difficult to get National squads together. Senegal are out because they are weak at goalkeeper and the goal they conceded against Columbia showed a coaching issue with the defender next to the post.

They should play free-flowing soccer which shoots them better. Let the opponents worry about you rather than worrying about them. Playing European soccer you play into their hands. Yes, you will have some setbacks but it's a right step in the process reaching WC final. What I find the weakness is the runs they're making in the box is mediocre at best: playing with the ball and without the ball are two things they're lacking compared to some Europeans and S.American teams, not the talent vise.
