What will go down as a bigger death?.............
    Michael Jackson OR Elvis Presley?

Both were close to the same age.. both had a big impact in music. Both were equally famous, if not, mj was a bit more famous because of his troubles and he had a much longer career. both were kings.. rock n roll and king of pop.. this one is tough..I think Michael Jackson wins here.. His death will have a bigger impact than Elvis..

Come 30 yrs from now, MJ will be more talked about than Elvis was after 30 yrs.. MJ will be a more talked about death than Elvis 30 yrs ago.

    Do you agree?

    I go with MJ..

Elvis... the man is REVERED in the south.... MJ became too controversial, altho his impact was greater. Perhaps if Neverland becomes like Graceland and MJ is honored similarly, but even then, the entire freakin south loves Elvis, whereas once everyone grew up, MJ lost some of his appeal.

It is a good question tho and I'm sure most would say MJ. I would too, if not for his controversies, but in the end, that may be what separates them in history...

Eh, I guess you're right... but MJ's legal issues will always leave a cloud over him. It's tragic...

Elvis' cloud was drugs. Self-inflicting behavior is always more accepted than potentially endangering children.

No need to debate whether or not he did it, but the accusations alone atleast have a chance to make Elvis' death bigger... in time

Either way, MJ's passing is tragic nonetheless...

It's close Nicky but I think MJ was bigger worldwide

Michael also wrote much of his material whereas Elvis did not.

              Jackson easy

Elvis was not a world star like MJ and not even close

There might be no bigger death than Michael Jackson

Yeah, I guess you're right JJ... But I can't but think it'll get overshadowed somewhat by all the accusations against him..

But yeah, the more I think about it. You're right. The outpouring of sympathy has been TREMENDOUS already, and is no doubt gonna continue for some time to come.

I guess I just think History will be a lil more harsh to Jacko than Elvis due to the accusations. But that deviates from the question somewhat.

Was good to see MTV playing MJ vids all nite. That man did make their network, so it was classy of them to honor him like that...

I would say that in the heat of him prime. There are many bigger deaths out there. World leader dying would be of a larger magnitude.

You cannot compare the two. One was big in an age before the proliferation of the media and the accessability to it. The other lived in a time of glossy gossip rags, internet, and blogs. Yes MJ was revered all over the world, but if Elvis had lived in this time, he would surely been considered as kooky and as famous as his modern counterpart. IO am not giving the nod to Elvis keep in mind. I am just saying that comparing the two is like comparing Babe Ruth to Barry Bonds in regards to home runs hit.

wow, i was expecting you boys to put up a fight here and say i am crazy and that Elvis is way bigger, but now that i think of it, you might be right.. maybe MJ will be bigger 30 yrs from now than elvis..

that's hard to imagine cause Elvis died younger than him, he invented rock n roll AND they still talk about him all the time 32 yrs after and still call him the KING..

I wonder if it will be the same 32 yrs from now with MJ?? tough to call.

the King of Rock n Roll vs the King of Pop...

maybe we should leave this to the King of SBR to decide... so let's await KingRevolver's take on this and accept that as rule lol

                            Can't let us peasants decide!

Only 9 songs on the album. MJ was known for his dancing, singing than for his songwriting.

And that's why Thriller was so HOT.

The video for the song Thriller actually made the album and not the songs. People were captivated by that video and his dance moves/choreography.

MJ was good, but I think his work/songs were hyped by a lot of things like his dancing, videos and wearing a single white glove and prosthetic nose.
