Hi, I was hoping you could help me. I recently received a check from bookmaker and I tried to cash it in at my local Royal Bank. It seemed like it would be a hassle to get the check deposited. They estimated that the fees would be around $200 for a $600 check, which is ridiculous. Do you know where I can cash my check from Bookmaker for a cheap fee? I live in western Canada.

I live in Western Canada and I use RBC Royal Bank. There is no way they're trying to charge you $200 on a $600 cheque. All cheques are free to cash at RBC, though there may be a hold on it while they verify that the cheque is good.
