I'm with ya on NASCAR, but stopped following it as closely last couple years since i stopped playing fantasy with a regular group i had for years.

But you need to accept the fact that everyone cannot be swayed or turned on to NASCAR & just because others dont like it doesnt make them idiots.

Im pretty sure there are sports you dont follow as well.

The real reason it was a popular sport back in the 70's and 80's was because people LOVED to watch the big crashes! And it gave hicks down South a reason to party like animals on the weekends. They got rid of a lot of the popular small tracks like Rockingham and went big time with races in Vegas and California. It was a good ol' boys sport before, now it's about corporate $$$. Money ruins every sport.

I know/knew several ppl of color who follow NASCAR, even some professional athletes.

Nascar is not just an old white man sport. I had a Puerto Rican friend from college who loved the sport and actually would go to watch it live. I personally hate it because it's boring as penetrate. Better of taking your kid to the amusement park and watch him go round and round on the merry go round while looking at the other moms.
