That's a good point they could always do that. Can't stop payments coming in and out of sportsbooks now with crypto but they could always do this like they do for certain sites in China and Russia. Also could just go directly to Costa Rica and shut em down if they wanted. US govt does whatever it wants.

Even IF offshore (illegal) gets bigger, and thats a big if...US govt will shut them down eventually. With sports betting getting bigger in the US there will be some very rich and powerful companies forming "associations" not unlike MPAA and RIAA and they will work with the gov to shit on the big illegal sites - hopefully they take down 5dicks and put Tonys scamming ass in prison.

They're moving back to June because NJ screwed up some of the language in their current law and are working on a fix.

Not accurate. The original law stated you couldn’t get a license until a year after the law came into effect (will be signed June 7th). If you did open up a shop before this time frame, you’d not be eligible to obtain a license. I’m sure some amendment to this will be put into place.

Why bet offshore when we will be able to Login an account in the USA Legally just like a TD Ameritrade account? Makes No sense to keep betting offshore and be Limited to the Number of Payouts you can get.

Doubt seriously the US Govt is going to care much about offshore with sports betting legal. It will serve a useful purpose for the US books by taking away professional action they don't really want and will be necessary for people in states that cannot bet until you can bet from any state in the country.

US books will also be getting their lines from offshore so they need them to be around.

It will be a while before US books are willing to compete with offshore on openers, overnights and bonuses. Eventually, they will put most offshore books out of business and will then seek to conquer much of Europe.

I just find it weird the books were raring to go on Memorial Day and now have to hold off because of this snag that seemed to be overlooked until today. Seems to be a screw up to me if the consequences of that language were overlooked until now considering people were making plans for May 28th until now because the law has to be tweaked.

All that happened was the NJ legislature put the brakes on Monmouth, who wanted to get going on Memorial Day weekend. The bill says "anyone who accepts bets within a year prior to the passage of this bill will not be licensed."

That is their way of saying "if you take bets before this bill is passed, you will be out of business after it is passed." NJ will have legal betting by the summer.
