You are right about Ontario fishing but you have to get away from population centers!

Minnesota with it's 10,000 crappy lakes likes to lay claim to good fishing but it's a joke compared to Ontario,Manitoba and northern Saskatchewan and pprobably Quebec, northern Alberta and British Columbia.I'm about an hour from the border and all the Chicago people have to drive through or stop over here on their way to Canada fishing.Very few stop here to fish although there are still a few ok lakes to fish. Most of the lakes here are fished out or else there are so many cabins on the lake it has turned into a recreation lake with crap floating around and jet skis and water ski's buzzing around. Why celebrities and athletes build big expensive cabins here is beyond my comprehension. You would be better off having a little place in Canada where you don't have anyone else living on the lake where you can fill your limit every day. Both governments are making it harder though for fisherman with rules and regualtions. Now you need the damn homeland security fascist-socialist passport to even go to Canada. With the economy in the crapper and that rule in place this year,I have noticed a dramatic decrease in out of state plates driving through here to get to Canada fishing.

If even a poor guy without a job wanted to get away from it all before where you had from spring to fall off you could scrape up a few hundred bucks and spend 20 weeks in Canada fishing and catching as many fish as you want each day.

Most fish is good and they brag up alot of exotic species on all the food-chef shows on tv but walleye fillets can't be beat!

Just don't eat the fish in Southern Ontario. With all the factories in Ontario, the fish are loaded with deadly contaminants.

      Sad, but true.
