I tried to read his articles whenever possible because they were always so well written, interesting and insightful. Seemed like he always took time to respond to questions and comments too. RIP, David

Just read through David’s posts and you’ll see what a brilliant man the world has lost. He not only loved sports but he loved life and respected everybody that posted in his threads. It’s hard to believe how saddened I am by his passing but that goes to show how powerful his words and messages carried. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and loved ones.
RIP Professor.

What a gentleman Dave was... I’ve never met Dave, but I am honored to have been able to communicate with him on here and Pregame for the last 5 years. He was brilliant, and kind, and his love for life was amazing... most of my week , during football season, revolves around reading PB, and listening to his pod and his various weekly spots on VSIN..... everyone on here that spoke to Dave regularly understands how special Dave was... RIP professor

A massive void has been left behind by Dave’s passing. Before hearing Dave on a podcast many many years ago I had no direction in this game. The ideas and concepts he presented never occured to me. RIP David Malinksky! I’ll be in Vegas soon and will dine at Lotus of Siam in your honor.

Having worked behind the scenes here at SBR for nearly 8 years... bringing Dave on board was one of the best moves Ive made. A unique voice, spirit, teacher and friend. His knowlege is unparalleled, and his 'industry' roots are about as deep as they come.
Even the man's skype messages read like poetry, his wisdom beyond his years, and he managed to take the touty salesy mentality out of sports betting and turned it into an art form.
The industry lost a good one here, and the void left will likely not be filled any time soon.
Dave was a missive Springsteen fan, so in his honor... I wanted to leave you all with this...
'Point Blank' (live... and the one with the long intro... the way Dave liked it best)

Mountain lion theorists:
1. Do the big cats clean up after themselves, leaving no trace of evidence and no tracks to a den?
2. Would a big cat choose to hunt a human when it lives in an area full of thousands of elk, antelope, deer, foxes and rabbits?
when animals get old or hurt they go to easier prey which would be a human.

that is the lesser factor... they mainly pounce if they feel the human may be threatening their space/territory or if they deem the human direct competition for food, which we are... we hunt the same things the mountain lion hunts

My condolences to Dave's family. Also thanks to Dave on the efforts he put in with his sports writing. I only went to Pregame to read his articles and found it unique with the tributes he made to musical artists. Especially the one to John Cohen. So, I never met Dave in person but kind of feel like I did because so much of his personality was in the things he wrote.

yes i know but the guy was asking why an animal would kill a human. Been hunting since 1970. My uncle owns rancho trinidad so hunting was in my blood til i got sick. Thinking of going with camera cause even though i own weapons; I don't trust myself enough to hunt at this time.

I have an old friend that was nearly killed by a mountain lion. There was a mountain lion killing livestock from surrounding farms and ranches, so he set out to hunt it down. He was on horseback and going past a brushy and wooded rise, he heard his dog growl and caught the flash from the corner of his eye. The mountain lion killed the dog with one swipe and then pounced on him, the mountain lion swiped him across the belly, deep. He got a shot off, but just in the air, wasn't nearly fast enough. It knocked him off the horse, the horse and mountain lion bolted.
He wrapped his shirt around him to keep anything from spilling out and managed to get to his horse. He rode several miles to the nearest house and got taken to the hospital. He was lucky to be alive, his dog was probably the one thing that saved him, slowed the lion enough for him to make some kind of reaction. He has a nasty scar and looked like what you would imagine a mountain lion gutting would look like.

thats some scary stuff, we have mountain lions here in CR... and my uncle was also hired by one of his wealthy friends to kill the lion that was eating all the cattle...
the hunt lasted days and nights... and I remember his story was quite tense and scary...
