I have talked about this a little bit here and there. She was a recovering alcoholic who relapsed.

She is an intolerable mess when she drinks. So basically that meant a complete on-the-spot amputation of the relationship. We went from being in each other's lives all the time to zero contact. Maybe saying "she fell off the face of the earth" is not the nicest way to describe it but that's what it felt like.

Actually the drunk version of her tried to stay in contact for awhile but she totally changes. The person that was my gf was gone as soon as she touched the first drink.

I don't know if this sounds callous on my part or how it sounds. There is a lot of background I am leaving out. She knows I am here for her if she wants support in cleaning up again but I don't want anything to do with her when she's drinking.

To be honest, I would not be surprised to get a call at any time saying she is dead. For one thing, she does incredibly stupid dangerous things when she drinks. Also, she had done some severe physical damage to her system before this relapse. Fukked up liver and whatnot.

ouch, that makes me heart hurt......

I realize that as a recovering addict... that you need to do what you have to do to stay healthy and I applaud your ability to no get sucked in, in this situation where it is easy to follow a lover down a wayward path..... I hope you don't get a call about her being dead, and maybe in a few years a call about her recovery and prosperous life.... either way..... a very very sucky way to lose a girl... GL and godspeed going forward Muddy....

Yep. Thanks. I don't meet people all that easily and I could feel pretty sorry for myself about it. She is hot too.

The crappiest thing is she's got 2 boys. So they get to learn about lying and being less important than alcohol to their mother. And maybe they'll get to deal with the death of their mother. The cycle goes on.

Fortunately they are with the father who seems solid enough but it all just sucks really hard.

You should do some sort of intervention...
