wow only 6 months left in this decade....
    where did the time go?????

as a child of the 80's and 90's I'd have to say that this decade was a lot better..... but what DEFINES this decade?

what will we look back and remember most about 2000-2009 most 30 years from now?????

the "internet" age where everyone stopped living and started social networking?

Everyone always thinks some other decade was better, lol. In the 90s all I ever heard was about how great the 60's and 70s were...even today. So in 20 years we'll be looking back at the 00s and saying, "Hot damn! That Hannah Montana was the shit!"

Not sure about 'we,' but I'll look back and remember the Great Fourth of July Flood of 2002, the drought the past nearly two years, making beer, drinking beer, the Astros' 2005 NL Pennant and the emergence of all my gray hair.

this decade was more interesting than last decade, but financially much worse. goal is to be smarter about money the next decade.

I'm getting old but acting younger as I get older. It's sorta like that movie with that buttmagnet Brad Pitt where he looks like Rumpelstiltskin and he gets younger.

Personally, it has been the decade of being self-employed, coming after a few decades of school and jobs I hated.

Hell of a great decade personally. I don't stop to appreciate things enough.

As far as how it will be remembered in the bigger picture, I'm not sure. From my little place in the western world - and I'm sure this won't be a popular perspective with everyone here - but it felt to me like it was the fall of America.

There was all the goodwill in the world towards America after 9/11. Amazing how fast and thoroughly it turned ugly and dark and cynical.

And it stayed that way. There were disasters both man-made and natural. A face was shown that was more vulnerable but dangerous. It felt like America's standing in the world shifted significantly. That dominated the decade.

Again this is just one guy's very western perspective. I'm sure there are people in Dar Es Salaam who wouldn't know what you were referring to if you said "Shock and Awe" or 9/11.

There were a lot of enterprising marketeers in the UK who had millenium events twice, once at the end of 99 and again at the end of 2000.

This is the decade of Reality TV. 50 years from now people will be laughing at us for being so stupid.
