I was just going to book a return ticket to LA and work out the rest closer to the time or even once there. I kind of wanted to fly to Vegas Thursday late afternoon so I could get a good sleep after the big flight and day in LA to be human for The Bash, but can be talked into just about anything. Option even flea bag motels in LA are a little out of my price range solo but if you want want to chop a room I think it is doable... I'm a loud snorer but I'll be grinding most of the night so, if you get to bed early, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also I'm heavy chain smoker (mostly acquired with comps so +EV) but can out go outside if it is a must to acquire a bunkmate to save a couple dollars (+EV again).
If needed I have forum references (Zeta and Bobby) where we successfully made sharing common space work despite my deficiencies listed above...Comment -

Just got back from LA, was our first time going and will be our last. If you want to get a taste of LA, save up your garbage for a couple weeks, then head down to the local area where all the homeless stay and sling trash everywhere. Bam, you are now in LA. Oh yeah, if you want to get that special touch, purchase a polluted fish sign and nail it to a post. The whole city is dirty.Comment -
LA isn't that bad although on a couple bus rides there I've seen black market "cabs" working the drop off location... But not that uncommon in still developing countries like California...
I see I've done the same thing to catch a cheaper and better scheduled international flights out of LA.
I was (mostly...) joking and likely (schedule is usually a fluid mess) currently have rough plans to be traveling back to Vegas pre-bash from Reno. Option if I do end up in LA, like you, I'm happy to pick up "hitchhikers" (as long as you can put up with my beater that smells like a ashtray and a large stain in the passenger seat from a Dr. Pepper that exploded due to the Vegas heat...) in exchange for conversation if you need a ride...

Kind of agree, it looks cliche run-down like old 70's and 80's TV shows in many places. And if you venture onto the street the poor people are really "in your face" in a full on way. Driving around in a nice looking convertible with the roof down is a superb way to meet and talk to homeless, if you like that sort of thing. Every time you stop at lights, or especially when you enter a gas station or fast food drive thru, some one comes up and begs or mumbles at you in some street language, or sings at you or tries to tell your fortune and wants money.
Almost warned you in your thread that that nice sounding hotel Downtown would probably be a shitty place to stay for a couple on a romantic trip.
Ha, well the stinky car ride is a generous offer, but for 50 bucks airfare on a Thursday, I think I'll lash out and stick with the plane ride
