Took me like 5 minutes to figure out what the hell you were talking about, but the "Canadienne" gave it away. St Jean the Baptiste day, correct?
Cheers to Nicky and anyone else celebrating.

So I learn that Juneteenth is an actual event. Sounded like a typical Prick neologism.
Happy Juneteenth to all. Give a hug to your local slave today.

I confess I hadn't heard of juneteenth before this. And everything I know about it now is contained in this thread.
I can't help but wonder why you would need to storm something to tell the slaves they are free. It seems like something you could just walk up to them and say without a whole lot of fuss and bother.
Obviously I am missing something but I can't imagine what. I have read the whole thread.

I find it is always wise to check in with George Michael on matters of philosophy.
He totally changed my way of thinking about remaining asleep when you go-go.

Prick, you're late.
Today is the last day of Juneteenth. Began on the thirteenth and ends on the nineteenth.

Well I don't know. To be completely serious, I know that many slaves who traveled on Harriet Tubman's Underground Railroad ended up in Canada - which led me to believe we were ahead of the game in that respect.
Now that was Ontario, not Quebec. Maybe that is a key distinction here.
But that is pretty much the extent of my specific knowledge on that. If you are saying we have some sucking in our history then maybe it is so.
Maybe it is so.

I don't know the answer to that either. I know Glen Campbell who did the song Galveston is Canadian. I never heard about him having any slaves.
