If any of you Tennis people were thinking of pulling the trigger on a Wimbledon bet on someone other than Nadal, now might be the time to check for some stale Nadal lines because i'm not sure how much publicity this story has had:

Thanks E Mike... This is very useful information...
And considering Wimbledon is played in your homeland, I'm sure you are gonna be all over it.
Who do you like for it? I'm not a good tennis capper so I'll prob just tail whatever opinion I end up liking best!

#3I don't bet tennis simply because I haven't got the time to put into it that could even remotely make it worthwhile, I just tend to bet other things and really don't follow it other than to watch the Majors but if you find a book that's got a stale Nadal line let me know.Comment -

I thought that by the way you blindsided me in that one thread that you were one to target people and hold bitter grudges.
This thread, and your post in mine, has shown me that you do maintain a sense of class, despite a few jokes or disputes. I can respect that.
I thought you were a scumbag before and am removing you from my mental scumbag list as I type this lol..

#10I don't really care whether you think I'm a scumbag or not, disputes and arguments are a daily occurance on here and I can honestly say I don't carry that over into wishing people ill with their bets.
There are plenty of people that do, they're the same type of people that go in SBR Johns thread regarding poster to poster betting and throw around names in public.
In your case, I was only pointing out my view on parlays and probably should have done that on a different day in a different thread whilst we were all in a better mood.
The fact I didn't is in no way an indication I want you to lose and if it came across that way that's certainly not the case and never would be.Comment -

Understandable... I thought you were trying to ridicule us for working as a group and all of that. I can be a lil too defensive at times too.
I generally like to keep theand get everyone working together in harmony and all that good stuff, with maybe a couple of jokes mixed in here and there.
I must say, you seem to be able to mix it up a bit and not hold anything personal. That's pretty good to see on a site like this.
Not sure if you bet baseball or not, but you're welcome on our thread anytime. Maybe you don't have to commit to the parlay, but if you like our straight wagers, we would cheer for you to cash on them.
What do you like besides golf? Soccer?

#12Golf, Soccer, MLB, Football when it's on and some obscure Euo stuff like Rugby and Cricket.
the reason I couldn't get involved in your thread - with respect - is because I like to make my own picks in my own way and make that bet, therefore giving nobody else to blame but me if it goes down. I don't like the idea of trying to find a consensus with other people because I know what my reaction would be when a game I liked wasn't included and we then went 3 for 4 with the game I liked that didn't get picked being a winner, I'm just not a consensus man. I've also learned I can't win by playing parlays on a regular basis.
If you want my opinion, your thread is perfect for the guys that like to hang at a forum and get involved in a group discussion and I can see how it would particularly appeal to recreational 20 buck parlay players that like to have a good debate and then watch the games. That's not a knock on 20 buck parlay players either, because if you lose 5 20 buck parlays in a week that's 100 bucks and if you earn 500 bucks per week thats 20% of your income which would be like A Rod betting 100K per-week, so I am aware size of bet is dependent on disposable income rather than dollar amount.
My point is, your thread serves a more than useful purpose for people looking to get involved in a group situation, it's just not my thing.Comment -

While I'm not a big time player, I was happy for one of our guys who laid down 100 and when we hit, made 400 off it. I think I was happier for him than my payout.
But yeah, it is more of a social thing. Altho I'm gonna try and get it where if a guy doesn't like a play, it's not included. No questions asked.
Maybe if we go on a lil roll and hit a few in a row we can attract ya. I won't hound ya about it, but I won't give up hope either lol. You seem to be a smart guy that knows how to play the combination of the odds and his thoughts, so that's why I wanted you aboard.
But I respect your position and wish ya nothing but the best man. Oh and your onner pic was classic the other nite! Did you see where I stole your idea and quoted him but changed it too???

#14I'm not the best guy to explain this, you'd be better off talking to Monkeyfocker, Mathy or Ganch but in my opinion you're trying to do two opposite things.
You're trying to attract what you describe as 'high dollar' bettors when strictly speaking that's not actually what they are. Sure they might place high dollar bets but their bets are based on a staking strategy or money management, or a perceived pre-defined edge that is unconnected to dollar amount in as much as anyone can utilize money management with any bankroll they like, large or small, based on the things I described above.
As I say, I'm completely the wrong person to be giving this advice because there are people on this forum that have forgotton more than I know but my overriding point is you need to decide if you want to recreationally pick a couple of three-team-parlays every day or make a concious effort to try and win money in a tried and tested manner that plenty of people on these forums adhere to.
You can find out all this stuff in the 'Think Tank' section of the site from people that know an awful lot more than I do.
For the record, i wouldn't describe myself as 'high-dollar,' but by joining this forum I've learned the way I was gambling was about the same as burning the money.Comment -

#17Not really seen the parlay thread. But, in essence:
1) You do yours and I'll do mine.
2) If I call you a cunt, deal with it, it was not intentional. Everything is forgiven tomorrow.
3) If you're playing parlays then, with the love of god, please make sure that you're getting +EV odds on them (or rather not getting -ve odds)
And also, in your case, parlays aren't your thing (you don't play 50/50 shots). Although you could get awesomely +EV prices on a parlay for a 40-1 golf game, a 5-1 soccer game and a 10-1 cricket game the odds you could survive your bankroll are limited (obviously depending how much you bet).
And that ends the love-in. Mike, stop being a cunt.Originally posted by pags11SBR would never get rid of me...ever...Originally posted by BuddyBearI'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.Originally posted by curioustaco is not a troll, he is a bubonic plague bacteria.Comment -

#18Taco, I'm happy to play cunt, as you well know. I was just trying to provide a little bit of insight as to why a parlay thread will only ever attract recreational gamblers rather than the serious ones and why it would probably be beneficial for this guy to know why that might be, so as to help with recruiting.
And yes, i do play parlays occasionally that might be two +250 chances but by and large you're correct, +EV only and no chalk, assuming you wish to play them at all.
Silly cunt.Comment -
