NFL football - getting too spread out through the week?
I was just listening to someone complain about weeks like this where there are NFL games Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The complainer felt there should be one Monday night game and all the rest on Sunday. The exception of having 2 Thursday games on Thanksgiving was considered okay - but that's it!

I didn't catch their actual argument though. There was some typical traditionalist rhetoric along the lines of: that's the way it used to be so that is how it should be now. But beyond that, I'm not sure of the thought process.

Me, I am the opposite. Sports to me are only about betting and I don't give a flying Fig Newton about tradition. My main complaint about the NFL is the relatively small number of games and the fact there are often only 2 gamedays each week. If there could be at least one game to bet on every damn day, I would be much happier.

I don't see that happening anytime soon but weeks like this are a great thing IMO.

    Just wondering what people think.

I love this time of year primarily because we start seeing more non-Sunday (Monday) games. I say start spreading them out earlier in the schedule....Couple other minor changes would be nice as well, say like a 40 game season or somethin'.....

It makes no difference to me, because the number of games remains the same. (more props with games spread out is good).

Which is also why I prefer the NBA, with far more games and therefore more good opportunities.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

The NFL should adopt a 162 game schedule like baseball. I'm really not interested if the players have health-related complaints. I'm trying to bet here.

There used to be a gentlemen's agreement, if not an actual binding rule, about when everyone would play their games. College didn't infringe upon high school action on Friday nights and the pros didn't infringe on college Saturdays. The general feeling was that most people were out on Friday watching their kids play, so nobody was going to be home to watch a game on TV anyway on that night.

But the almighty dollar and TV makes the rules now. I watch as much baseball as I can cram into my schedule during the MLB season, and only watch NFL when a game really intrigues me during the fall and winter. Been watching so much college basketball lately that I've got to give that a rest and build my 'rep points' with my wife back up

Now we're talking. If they run out of players just bring more in from college.

I like the games spread out, but dont you think the value of the NFL Sunday Ticket is dropping? With all those games that should be on Sunday, being seen by regular cable/sat viewers. The subscribers to the Sunday Ticket are getting less games, but seem to pay more each year.

Doesn't bother me when they're played.

95% like the games spread out as do the networks, huge ratings also.

They should be spread out starting the second half of the year.
