#72Shit I just gave maggies 100 points and then realized he wasn’t pro.
Sure maggies, I will take your tips. Anything that can help me get better.
I took a couple lessons last year and I was casting my hands really badly, corrected it some, but I am afraid it has come back a little. Need to get a couple lessons again, probably.
no goddamn shit you were castingComment -

#82do the greens slope?
BTW rough height and location of the course has the most to do with the type of ball...most of us realize you shoot over 90 with a slice and swing speed around 90mph

Didnt realize you were asking for rough height, thought you were asking if I roll the ball.
I will call the course and ask for rough height greens slope.

#91I see the same stuff with guys who are trying to break 90 and can't. Obviously ball striking must be improved but scoring is a talent in itself. Other than your putter, your wedges are your scoring clubs. You need to learn how to hit different shots around the green and when to play them. Learn how to hit different shots with your sand wedge around the green. Your situation should dictate you trajectory. I can hit a 56 degree straight up in the air and flop it or close the face and hit a mid range bump and run. I certainly can't do it as well as I used to, but I can't tell you how many guys who can't adapt their shot to the situation they face. If you are short sided and have no green to work with you are screwed without a flop shot. Just practice it and all other wedge shots. 120 yds and in is where you score if you can be a decent ball striker.
The other big thing people kill themselves with is strategy. I see people drive the ball in the rough, woods or even duff it. I do it as well. How many times do you see a person then try and hit a fairway wood or hybrid out of a mess??? All the time. If I do that and the lie is bad I just take an 8 iron and get it back in play. I can still get lucky and make a par but might bogey the hole. That's fine. I just want to take doubles or worse out of play. Those are round killers. It is hard to break 90 with doubles.
You don't have to hit the ball perfect to score better. If a pin is tucked on the left side of the green, don't miss left. Know where you can miss it. It sounds very simple and it is not easy, but if you get better with the basics your score will drop.Comment -

#96I believe I know more about how to putt, chip, bunker shots, and especially hit the fukkin hell out of the ball more than anyone here
I can prove my swing speed
I lack in overall control situations
I am basically happy Gilmore except can win at putt putt tournaments
it is the overall scope that I do not like, the pressureComment -

#97Nobody but a tour pro would ever change their ball according to the course and most of them still use the same ball at Hilton Head as they do at Bethpage which are two totally different courses
Maybe Greaser should play a round with myself and Rudy and see who he should be listening to. Who is our 4th???Comment -

Yeah I always just play. I don’t practice. So I don’t try to hit any flop shots for fear of skulling it over the green. I do turn the face down and bump and run at times.
This year during round robin in my league I will try this.
My handicap cap is too low because my dumb ass partner who has been in this league for 10 years can’t hit short putts, so he gave himself gimmes and me gimmes during round robin and I didn’t realize until it was too late that this screwed my handicap.

Here’s why—mrons are Mizuno JPX 800 hd’s and they came with 4 and 5 hybrids instead of irons.
I am thinking about buying a new set of irons as a result.
I know now you are supposed to be able to hit balls out of rough with hybrids, but it’s just not the same if you ask me.Comment -

#102See now we are talking. Big problem for me. I am fairly consistent off the tee, but I don’t hit it far, so if I am in the rough off my drive I am somewhat screwed.
