Attn Buzzy - NHL in Hamilton
    Buzzy,

Please share your thoughts with us as to how you feel about he possibility of the NHL (Phoenix) setting up shop in Hamilton.

You seem to be pretty quiet on this front so I am curious to know what your thoughts are on this.

    Your Pal,

What happened to them moving back to Winnipeg???Winnipeg built a new arena or two and they were all hepped up to get the Jets back and now Canada east gets the team.

I think it would be great and I know at least one TigerCat fan that would agree with me.

          1] Will never happen
2] It would leave Hamilton in 5 years after a) coming in last place every season, b) barreled in fukks in Hamilton cannot afford tickets

Winnipeg is the only viable Canadian market.

Hamilton is a bigger hockey market than Winninpeg.

Fans will come from the Niagara Region as well as London, Kitchener-Waterloo and the GTA.

Hamilton could easily support an NHL franchise.

When compared to Raleigh NC, or Phoenix AZ, Hamilton looks like great place for a NHL team.

Balsilie has lots of money to throw around, I like his chances.

Anyone here ever attend a Jets game in the old Winnipeg Arena? That huge mural of the queen of England was bizarre to say the least.I live a few hours away from the Peg and it's strange to be in a place where people are subjects.Great town to visit with lots to do including going to the best strip joints in the world but it would be a tough place to live.Geesh,I better think twice about that statement. The Canadian Prime Minister Harper was just on Cavuto and he seems like a much more reasonable guy than what we have in office and he's mad that the U.S is making people have passports to come back from Canada. All the people I know that used to go fishing up there alot and go up for hockey and gambling weekends quit going because of that new law.I probably would have went to the 1st Bombers game tonight and took in the races at Assiniboia Downs on Friday night?Canada is a good bet for investing in natural resources and will probably do ok where maybe teams up there will be on more solid footing than here.

The new Winnipeg rink only seats 15K. Not sure why the city built a rink that sits 15K. It's not like the AHL's Manitoba Moose packs it in. Winnipeg building a 15K seat arena is a head scratcher.

Phoenix has a TON of really good prospects/players.

Winnipeg as I mentioned built an arena that only seats 15K people and you say Winnipeg is the only viable Canadian market? Hell you would have to charge $274.32/seat for nosebleeds in order to make up the difference for the loss of about 3500 seats.

Hardly, but they keep force feeding the game to people in areas that aren't into hockey.

Having more teams in Canada would be good for the NHL.

Thats what i mean. I dont like what they are doing. They are trying to say Hockey is for everyone. I believe it is not for everyone. Can we see Phoenix being relocated within the next 5 years, again?

They need a team in Quebec as well as Winnepeg. Bring the old markets back in. More teams in Canada is true. Canadians love it, eat it up. Bettman is a retard.

PuckOff, the number of seats can be expanded. Just like they would do for Copps. It's about the size of the relevant population. Again, Halifax fails.

Maybe 10% of people in Phoenix are mildly interested in hockey, while 90% are in Halifax, but 90% of 360,000 people is fukk all. This is in contrast to rich retirees in Arizona. You think you're going to get 1 in 10 people from Halifax at every home game? Yes people can come from surrounding areas, but what's near? NFLD/PEI? They can't even make a CFL team viable there. You are dreaming.

At least like plommer said, Hamilton has a chance because it can draw on the GTA, London, etc.

Im from London, and I think I'd rather see a Sabres game or a Knights game instead of going to Hamilton. Copps Colisium is a dump with a crappy mall attached to it. Downtown hamilton is a mess. There will be traffic problems if 50,000 barrel into hamilton for a game. Too many 1 way streets.

Nhl needs to stop trying to sell itself. They got enough fans as it is, and plenty of enough money. Its the greatest sport on the earth, and they know it, so they try to sell it more then is needed.

I dont like change, they need to leave it alone, in my opinion

I can at least indicate this much. I am doing my best to make sure it does NOT happen.

                                                  Not dreaming at all.

If Halifax had a team, people would come from Cape Breton, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

And what is it with your comment "Again Halifax fails". Again???

I played a tournament in Phoenix a few weeks ago, we had games at 4 of the 6 different rinks they had there. I was very impressed. Really nice well maintained rinks that were always packed with people. They were superior to the rinks we have in the LA/Anaheim area. I think there is a fan base there, and that they are gonna try and make it work with the Coyotes.

puckoff, by again I meant Halifax fails for population and [fails again] for lack of arena/seats. Not that the seats can't be fixed, it is just getting asses in them.

I will never post again if an NHL team is announced in Halifax in the next 20 years
