Selloff possibly prompted by CBOE bitcoin futures settlement date is tomorrow. Some real traders were purchasing the underlying and selling the contract to then dump BTC days before settlement date to make trades profitable on both ends.

No where to hide in crypto, but really really nowhere to hide when you're in random high flying alt coins when contrary market winds start to blow. Love it.

You mean institutions, which are leery about bitcoin in the first place, are going to buy in once it drops 25% in a day, or like 50% in a month. Its not a return thing with bitcoin, its worrying about risk thing. Besides the few crypto hedge funds, no institutions are going to buy bitcoin at this point. If they did, they buy the futures. There is 1,358 open interest on the futures, the equivalent of $67 million notional, like $40 million actual. Its a tiny market.
