Doubtful. If I did collect it's what I paid in already so not socialism.
No. Wouldn't be socialism anyway. Taxes on the employer.
Yes. Not socialism. Someone paid for a product to be delivered to me per free market. They had the choice to send or not to send the letter.Comment -

And yes I remember 08, and if you go back to the reason the banks were originally issuing loans to people that couldn't afford them you have to go back to BJ Clinton. He and the dems wanted everyone to have the American dream (house) and it wasn't fair to those who couldn't have the it. So after the democrat santa claus handed people loans they didn't deserve for over a decade, 08 happened.

#130The only thing I ever commented on was the income tax. I am merely pointing out that any income tax cut will be inaccurately viewed as for the rich when the real reason it benefits the top earners is because they pay all the income taxes in this country. I'm sorry if those facts upset you. I don't like rich people anymore than anyone else here, I just know that you can't get a tax income break if you don't pay income taxes to begin with. The bottom 50% of earners pay less than 4% of the income tax in our country. I am one of those people.Originally posted by grease lightninIt’s not just poor people. It’s middle class people
Poor and middle class SPEND most of their income and pay more of their total income in taxes than it seems. This is why there has never been a “consumption tax”.
Plus social security and Medicare are in trouble, and they are cutting taxes. Think about it.
Do an online retirement analysis for yourself, look at the results with your social security retirement benefit included, and then not included.
And then come back and talk to me.Comment -

#132Hicks, we had 2 major tax cuts prior to this one, Kennedys and Reagans. Both led to historic growth and prosperity. Not good growth, historic growth.
Both were passed bipartisan and if you add up the votes it was more liberals than conservatives who supported them.

You also forgot the Bush tax cuts which were followed by the 08 crash & Bill Clinton had something to do with it also.
After Reagans cuts we had a Recession.
We also had the deregulated roaring 20's before the Great Depression.
JFK's cuts were from 90% to 50% or something like that & we didn't have a ton of deregulation. Going from 90% to 50% is not the same as going from 50% to 35% with loopholes. Also JFK had a better American economy. Jobs & capital were not being deported overseas. Makes a big difference.
Now were going to 21% with added loopholes. BIG CRASH?Comment -

#137All of this is just a logical fallacy, correlation = causation. Prior to 1913 we didn't have income taxes outside times of war and that was our greatest period of growth, a time when we were known around the world as the Land of Opportunity, a time that I'm willing to bet saw some of your ancestors willingly move here.Originally posted by khicks26Yeah I know it was bipartisan.
