    MODS : Tech Question
SBR seems to be loading slower and slower these days, not sure why, especially when I click 'New Thread' for instance, I'll just get stuck with a plain blue screen with the tabs on top and nothing else.

I'm on high speed, i've cleared cookies and cache and also tried it on both IE8 and Firefox, same on both.

Checked all other bookmarks, no problems, everything else loads very fast, it appears to just be SBR.

Have you any thoughts and is anyone else experiencing this or is just me?

Thanks in advance, get your finger outta your ass Whitey pal.

Sorry Mike, caught me on my commute home then it took a little while to feed the critters and fix me a big glass of sweet tea.

I'll make sure one of the techs sees this at some point, but my first thought is it's on your end since everything seems the same to me at home (IE7, FF). You running anything else lately in the background?

Not that I know of Willie, although it's slightly improved on Firefox but still nowhere near as fast as I've experienced in the past.

I'll have a play around and see if it is on my end although I've tried everything I know, I'll get back to you.

        Thanks

Ok, well when you first mentioned IE8 it reminded me that one of the smart guys said something about that being a problem for some things. We have periods in the office when it slows down, but it usually picks up after a short time. And I've had pages load in IE7 where only part of the page comes up like you said. I'll show this to one of the techs in the morning if they don't see it before then.

Oh, and they all went to an all-you-can-eat rib joint for lunch today, not Taco Bell

Thanks for the heads up Mike. After speaking with Richard Moss it looks like they have restarted the forum, and have been monitoring it carefully the past forty minutes and have not seen any hiccups on SBR's end.

                Is performance issue still occurring?

Mr Moss pm'd me, thank him for his time.

It's still a bit slow but I'm gonna clear some stuff out and restart and I'll keep you posted.

                  Thanks.

Just restarted, still painfully slow on IE and firefox, really am at a loss to know why. Others sites load fine, let me know if you have any ideas, i'll continue to try to work it out.

are you sure youre clearing your cache (temp internet files)?

em, try running ccleaner and see if that helps.

CCleaner is the number-one tool for cleaning your PC. It protects your privacy and makes your computer faster and more secure! Download it FREE today.

it will clean up your registry also.

But surely if I reloaded Windows XP afresh on Sunday night why would I need to clean the registry?

It was bad before and it's bad now, although for the last hour its been fine.

It's not that I'm not grateful for your advice but i've run three scans on a freshly loaded system and Illini is having the same thing.

i didnt know what you meant by reloaded windows. if you formatted your drive and reinstalled windows and you still have the same problem, then thats a different story and would rule out your system causing the problem.

your symptoms just sounded like temp internet files were bogging your system down.

i've actually had problems getting the odds archive pages to load sometimes in the past. tried just now and they load fast no problem. but i just figured my problem was my sketchy internet connection.

Yes, completely reloaded, id been meaning to do it for a while and the slowness of this site was the final straw. Made no difference.
