When the options start trading soon on the CME
the bets made and profits and losses on those options
will be astronomical percentage-wise.
OR, - the CME could suck in all that volatility and make the
options expire worthless - which means they keep all the money
but for the tiny few who bet on a tight price range.

If the cryptocurrency markets survive fairly well intact through Dec... then that will be an excellent sign for 2018

volume will be light
Too expensive to trade on CME....$17,000 1 Lot daytime and I think overnight about $85k so largest margin requirement of all times on CME which means light volume
Light volume so no true indication of the market

What do you project the ripple effect to be like? Let's say you have all your bitcoin at sports books in USD. How vulnerable are the sports books? Do they get out of bitcoin pretty fast when deposits come in and convert to cash? Do they leave it set in an exchange and then vulnerable even if it is held in USD or another currency?
Or in other words will the books survive a bitcoin crash?

They are starting with a 35% margin requirement that is expected
to decrease and be coupled with other marginable holdings.
Here is the CME FAQ guide.
We can infer from this that they are indeed aiming for price stability
by capping the contract zones. This is all part of the effort to mainstream
and regulate cryptocurrencies. Banks and governments will eventually
produce their own - that is the biggest threat to BTC, the competition.
Get details on how to trade Cryptocurrency futures and options products from CME Group.

The price is going through the roof. Peaked at over $16,000 before dropping back to $15,450. The low yesterday was $11700.

sites all over crashing. I believe it did hit 20k which then caused lots of auto withdraws most likely which is what caused sites to crash. Now that more and more people know about it, the network/system can't handle the amount of traffic coming into the websites. It's been wild

I don't doubt it. I've used the coindesk.com/price/ as a reference for the last 18 months. I'm sure there are other sites with equally accurate/inaccurate prices.
You gotta love it when some idiot posts a link to an article and all it does is send you to the fuk'in sign up site! How about just posting the damn article here in the forum instead. It's called copy and paste!
By the way guys and I hate to say it, but BTC is looking more and more like a pyramid scheme. Hype the shit up to lock in late comers, and boom, watch the fuk'in bottom fall out of it.
Will some people make money, yeah, the ones who got in early and then got the fuk out. With something this volatile, it will inevitably come crashing down.
Not to mention "sophisticated hackers" have already begun to steal this so called "cryptocurrency", it's just a matter of time. Remember when the "dot com" boom was raging and every start up had millions in stock IPO's and the companies were yet to produce a fuk'in thing!
Here's a real link to the C82 million dollar hack.

No sweetcheeks, nothing ruins my day, except maybe having to continuously look at your fuk'in old ass Tiger avatar. Maybe you haven't heard the news, but Tiger is back and play'in quite well. How about you get with the times and update it? That is unless you're into intoxicated black guy's mug shots.

Network is currently clogged with Over 200,000 of unconfirmed transactions. Hard for an exchange to give an accurate and fair price... they usually gouge you on THE BUY... and CHEAT YOU ON THE SELL.
I've noticed even GEMINI has been slightly gouging you on the BUY. And they are usually one of the fairest. But again... when the system is clogged like this... hard to know the true value of Bitcoin. Could easily be off 1,000 high and low.

Tripled since November 12th. At that rate, we're looking at 50k by the end of the year.

This major increase has a lot to do with people getting inline for the FORK FREEBIES this month. Only logical explanation.

Bitcoin has been so good for money transfer purposes. Have to depend on the sports books to keep the post up money safe. Now, we are stuck if the money has to come out bitcoin if that is the way it went in.

Futures trading will be on the CBOE one week before the CME. Japan futures to follow and then NASDAQ.
