The Yankees were so successful in the late 90's because they built a team, and developed their own players. This is actually what the Sox have done over the past few years. The Yankees have gone back to to their old ways of just overpaying for a bunch of stud players and hoping they mesh together. I cant argue the success that the Yankess have had in their history. But since the Henry group has bought the SOx in 2002, the organization had put a focus on developing young homegrown talent. The Red Sox has an organization has change the philosophy of how they build a team, it use to be just get a bunch of sluggers, now an emphasis is put on defense and speed. The Red Sox with their farm system and young talent have out together a team that will be competitive over the next 5 years.
