I've been sports betting for about 5 years now. I'll be honest, I'm down several thousand dollars since I started this horrible habit and addiction.

I currently have a little over $5K in my Greek account. My account has never been this high. I have been on absolute fire lately. I laid $3K at -300 and won $1K on the Texas Longhorns tonight. Earlier I told myself I am finished and will cash out if Texas wins. I'm now having second thoughts.

Should I cash out or keep riding this winning streak?

Shorty, in all seriousness, maybe it's not that you are just hot. I mean, sure ... you're probably on a hot streak. But maybe you have learned over the years how to avoid the pitfalls of your past. Maybe you can actually use what you've learned and be smarter this time around - successful. I'd look at it like a new beginning, fesh start whatever.... but this time with the knowledge you wish you'd had when you first started dumping money into this.

Then again if you're betting 3/5ths of your roll on a single play...

let me ask you, has the losses severely impacted ur quality of life or was this entertainment money?

now, if the money can easily be written off, then keep playing and enjoy urself... just bet a hundred or so at a time instead of a thousand... that way you are having fun but not getting too crazy with it

now, if you need the funds, or have a psychological hurt due to being down, then cash out all but a few hundred and start back up

personally, i think you fall somewhere in between this and would suggest you cash about 60 percent of it out, go buy yourself something nice and after rewarding yourself-- take ur remaining funds and play with them how you like, but dont be so stressed about trying to recover losses and/or what you cashed out with.. the something nice you buy yourself should be your lil extra on top of all the entertainment you paid for

On a serious note, do what the one guy said, cash it all out except for about $500 and keep the streak alive using sound money management. Don't bet more than 3-5% of your roll on any given play.

If you've lost thousands in a few years, you'll most likely lose the 5K you have in your account.

edit: I just saw that you cashed out and left $100 in. I would have left 5 or 6 in but I'm glad you did what you did. Sounds like it may have been putting a damper on the quality of your life.

Take up a math approach to betting, bet $100-$200 bets, and watch the roll grow. That's really all there is to it. Don't chicken out now, and go and blow the money on something stupid.

What a sweet comeback by the Marlins tonight. Down 3-0 to Carpenter and scrapped and clawed their way back while their pitching held the Cards scoreless for the remainder. Hermida ends it in the bottom of the 9th with a bomb!

It is all about bankroll mgt, it is just like poker, when do u withdraw and what to do with the money, i found that if u don't set some sort of cap on ur bankroll as to when u withdraw u never will and over time lose all. Make small withdrawls over time and try to keep ur bankroll going forward. good luck hope thathelps some.
