Yep. Vaitai was the starting LT on a super bowl winning team and did a perfectly fine job in one of the most difficult positions to play in the league.

You’re not going to hit on every 5th rounder but that doesn’t mean you should be trading those picks away, especially for older players.

They have 2 5ths, it is worth the risk. He had more sacks and QB hurries than anyone else on the Eagles. Sure they rotate but he is a pro bowl caliber player on a team built to win now. No brainer. They also got a 7th back and maybe they can get a pick for Curry.

You’re looking at it the wrong way. No reason to compare ONLY 5th round picks over the last 5 years. There have been plenty of late round draft picks (4th-7th round) who have become contributing players. This Eagles team was loaded with former late round picks who played an important role in their championship run.

Vaitai, Kelce, Bradham, Ajayi, Beau Allen, Burton, Clement, McLeod, Jason fukking Peters, Celek just to name a few guys who were either late round picks or undrafted and played an important role on this team.

I’d rather have more opportunities to draft young talent (cheap talent btw) than trade away picks for expensive, older players.

I’m not going to budge on this. I’d rather have the picks. I like developing young talent for a fraction of the price of a Michael Bennett.

No you brought up that they have two 5th rounders. I said if those two 5ths were a 4th and a 6th you wouldn’t be making that point. They’re missing other picks earlier in the draft too.
