Tom Glavine is done. He's just a name now. Frank Wren told him the truth to his face: You can't get guys out anymore. Glavine is just another in a long line of egocentric athletes that don't know when to hang up the cleats.
The Red Sox are too smart to be that dumb.

I could too
can't wait until Smoltz is back
as a big braves fan I always enjoy watching Smoltz pitch... regardless of him being on the sox now...
I like Glavine but his stuff has faded recently, and he went to the mets for a while... Smoltz and Maddux I will always love watching play

Just on smarts alone I would venture to guess that Glavine is better than many current starters in MLB.

Fcuk Glavine. No matter where he lands, I hope he gets rocked. I hope a line drive comes back through the box and just grazes his little pea head, literally scares the piss outta' him and he wets himself on the mound in front of 40,000 in the stands and millions on TV. I'm sick and tired of these ballplayers saying they understand that baseball is a business, yet when a team like the Braves makes a business decision as they did with him, they cry about how they were done wrong. Fcuk Tom Glavine and the horse he rode in on.

I'm a huge Braves fan, but I couldn't agree more. Not to mention when the Braves had to cut payroll several years back with changes in ownership, they offered Glavine a contract they could afford. What did he do? He went to the arch rival Mets for more money instead.
Fvck Glavine indeed.

You're confusing character with geography, Fish.

Glavine and Smoltz beat the slots for $5.85 at the Cherokee casino back in the 90's. They can still pitch for the Redsox. Why not?

What a crybaby this guy is! The guy has made something like $130 million in his career, most of it from the Braves, and they wouldn't blink at giving him another million if they thought he could still get the job done. Got no respect for this guy now.
Braves general manager Frank Wren said Sunday he had no comment on a report Tom Glavine may file a grievance against the team following his release on Wednesday.
Glavine said Friday he believes he was released for financial reasons and to clear a roster spot for Tommy Hanson, who made his major league debut Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Wren, team chairman Terry McGuirk and president John Schuerholz said Glavine was released because they did not believe the 43-year-old left-hander would make a successful return from surgery on his elbow and shoulder.
"It was purely and only on the merits of what gave us the best chance to win, no financial interest whatsoever involved," McGuirk said.
FoxSports.com reported Saturday that Glavine's agent, Gregg Clifton, is exploring filing a grievance.
Glavine would have received a $1 million bonus if he had been activated from the disabled list for Sunday's start, as he expected.

If Smotlz can get back to decent form Boston could be tough, they do not need Glavine though he is washed up.
