#2Paver, I'm trying to ask a serious question about poker and your tying up
the board with tomato questions. Please visit Fishhead at the lawn
and garden forums to get this question answered.

#5Pavy, not sure what type of soil you have there so may be tough to answer. I 'soak' the area around my tomatoes three times a week, just leave the hose barely running and set it next to a couple of plants for 45 mins or so, then move to next plants and so on. Don't water them everyday.Comment -

#6Pavy--Tomatoes are not my cup of tea.
My suggestion is to do a search on the internet to find your answers.
More of a farmer/gardener on this end.............corn, soybeans, watermelon, brocolli, carrots.
Tomatoes are very, very hard to grow properly.................nothing like fresh tomatoes out of the garden though.

Thanks for answering my question. I planted mine in 24" round plastic containers. I mixed 50/50 the local soil which is red clay with a miracle gro garden mix soil from the store. I like the container idea because I can move them around the garden occasionally as the sun changes position throughout the spring and summer and avoid my house's shadows because the garden is north of the house.Comment -

Matty Rain those are actually my hands. Back when I owned a duck farm I got bored one day and took that picture. That was only a few days before the hay sickle accident.Comment -

#18Pavy it's a picture of my love I give to you. From the heart.
Slick, I lopped off a thumb, yes. Now when I make that sign with a missing thumb, it just looks like a broken heart. And nobody likes that.Comment -

#19Pavy, assuming the containers drain well, then just give each one a good soaking maybe 2-3 times a week. Tomatoes hate to stand in water, can't remember the term for it but they are the type of plant that can start shooting out roots from any part of their stalk that is below ground which is why they always tell you to plant 'em deep.
I've got mine in the ground using a mix of home compost, horse manure and plain-Jane top soil. Usually only hit them with a little Miracle-Gro right after I plant them. A lot of those 'designer soils' sort of go dead after all of the ingredients get absorbed and used. Sort of like giving kids junk food; once they come off the sugar rush, you either have to keep giving them more or they get cranky.Comment -
