just hit his 20th HR. Its a shame that he is going unnoticed. Guy is a flat out stud. Does it in a pitchers park too.

    ATB515-

Great post. I agree that Adrian Gonzalez is one of-if not the most underrated player in the big leagues. He crushed 36 homers last year with 119 RBI's without anyone noticing. I wounder if his name has something to do with is....

I am not a Padres fan, but I can't help liking them. You could really build a team around Kouzmanoff at 3b and Gonzalez at 1st. Not sure why they traded Gerut who was another guy with a great future ahead of him.

I'll keep my eye on San Diego especially since Jake Peavy rumors are heating up again.

    Again, nice post.

Gerut was traded for a number of reasons, partly money, partly because Gwynn is more versatile in the outfield(can play all 3 positions) and partly because The Padres wanted a 'feel-good' factor in the wake of attempting to trade their pitching stud and face of the franchise to Chicago White Sox.

As an indication of how fukkkked up the Padres are from top-to-bottom, they could have had Gwynn for nothing from the waiver wire after spring training but didn't bother.

In keeping with the shambolic ownership policies of years past, Adrian Gonzalez name is now being mentioned in trade talks with GM Kevin Towers saying on local radio this week he'd look very carefully at any deal that would give The Padres at least three players that were ready to play now.

Adrian Gonzalez is indeed a stud, is a local boy and a Padres fan from childhood and earns just 3M per. It's only right The Padres should try to dump him, so as to be consistent with all the other ridiculous decisions ownership have made over the last few years, culminating in slashing the payroll from 75M last year to 40M this year.

Good points English Mike. Still, I think moving Gerut was a major mistake. I don't see Peavy around for much longer either. Even though I like the teams coach and his abilities Padres fans should spend more time on the beach after the all star game. I don't seem them extending their winning ways.

Me neither, but if you look at their position now, with the resources they have, it's a miracle theyre only 9 back. I'll let you know in two months about Gerut, Gwynn has had a really good start, but it's certainly possible it was a mistake, just add it to the others they make on a daily basis.

He's on pace for 66 this year. He'll probably reach 50, not sure about 60. In a hitter's park, I wouldn't be surprised if he touches 60.

I predict 51 homers for Adrian this year. I think this is his breakout year in the Majors. Last year was impressive, but this year is his year.

Impossible to say under 50 given his current clip.

He should be the National League's starting First Baseman at the All-Star Game this year.
