My first experiences with horse racing...comments appreciated
so i went down to the track and did the simulcasting thing. i must say it appears -- to me at least -- that horse racing is for suckers. granted i didnt know what i was doing, i just figured that the horses that were 1/5 to win, would probably win...not the case. i bet a handful of EXTREMELY favored horses, and EVERYONE lost, a few didn't even show. are you kidding me? i didn't lose much because i was experimenting, but it just seems like horse racing is similar to the horrible odds people get with futures on a team winning a division, so on and so forth....anyone actually make $ off this?

Thi vig is big in racing. Often over 20%. 1/5 favs win more than 0% of the time. And yes there are longterm winners. Those few are, in my view, among the most skilled of all gamblers.

yeah i had heard it had a big vig. i can tell by looking at people who are at the track that nobody is winning. i think going is worth it going purely for entertainment value. it just seems crazy because a 1/5 fav in any sport is almost always going to win....i can't see myself going 0 for 5 on huge nfl fav ML's...its just insane.

Horseracing is the biggest sucker game in the world, anyone that bets it daily is broke. You always see old cars at the track.
