Good position right now even though lots of time left
I would want to hold that ticket

judge a flash in the pan who will regress or fade. some actually thought he would contend for the triple crown with altuve in the league. pitchers have figured him out. the next dave kingman.

Absurd comparison. Dave Kingman averaged like 40 walks per season. Judge is going to have well over 100. Just because he's not going to win triple crown doesn't make him Dave Kingman.

he will lose his patience at the plate while trying to hit hr's to try to save the fading yankees wild card chances. walks will come down and k's will increase and a .254 batting average more likely. the next edwin encarncion more than likely than dave kingman though.

Stanton has a longer track record of being a baseball murderer.
Tons of hype with Judge after HR Derby.
True story: in the 1st round of the Derby, Stanton had a higher average exit velocity than Judge and a longer average HR distance than Judge.

I don't like the new head to head format in 1st round. Generally leads to a non deserving guy moving on w low total while another pair both blast more and only 1 moves on. Kinda stupid, the guys who hit the most should advance.

they should but they won't discontinue this hr derby nonsense since it sells out the place. but seemingly it has resulted in a few bad 2nd halves by players who participated in it. some, wisely refuse.

Yea it tends to get some guys swings all screwed up. I'm sure there other factors but there a decent list of guys who struggle after participating. Considering judge was really hesitant in the 1st place and only signed off after pressure gotta think it probably at least a contributing factor in his poor performance since. Certainly no upside in doing it (from a performance standpoint anyway), although I kinda think all the attention judge got has fueled Stanton in 2nd half! Lol
