#990Hello, friends! Sorry I've been away, but I just flew in this morning after 2 glorious weeks at Hedonism II, in Negril, Jamaica. I'll be getting back on the horse w/ all things, including SBR, by tonight/tomorrow-ish.
I see BTC's rebounded to 6400 this morning. Good, sell to cash. I'm sure PapaG, Raiders, Opti, TTT, Bsims, PaperTrail and Jake and the rest of the extremely bright crypto minds here have explained why selling BTC's the only option after the entire BU wing of the bitcoin community got phucked over with the cancellation of B2X, but if you've missed those posts, then sell your BTC on this spike to cash and we'll talk about the cataclysmic shifts in the BTC landscape and community (heh, now two distinct communities) over the past week or so once I'm unpacked and settled back in.Comment -

#1005just received an email from coinbase
Dear Coinbase customer,
There have been a number of developments with Bitcoin Segwit2x since our last update. No action is required and all funds stored on Coinbase remain safe.
Last week, the Segwit2x development team announced they would no longer continue with the project. In addition, a significant portion of miners and other community leaders withdrew their support for the fork. However, despite these developments, a small number of miners may attempt to go forward with a fork.
We wanted to provide clarity about the potential outcomes of the fork and what Coinbase will do in each scenario.
To protect customer funds, Coinbase will disable Bitcoin sends and receives at 2 am Pacific Time on November 17th, and disable buys and sells an hour before the fork, which is currently predicted to occur between 6am to 8am Pacific Time on November 17th. All functionality will be re-enabled shortly afterwards.
Scenario 1: Network is unusable
If support for the fork remains at current levels or decreases, the Bitcoin2x network will be unusable. Coinbase will not support withdrawals or trading as it will not be possible to move these assets. Currently we believe this is the most likely scenario.
If the network gains support at a later date, we will enable Bitcoin2x withdrawals from the platform.
Scenario 2: Network is usable
If transactions are being confirmed at a reasonable speed and miner support is strong, we will allow Coinbase customers to withdraw Bitcoin2x. We will not immediately enable buys and sells as previously stated, but we may enable them at a later date.
We will keep customers updated through our blog.
Thank you,
Coinbase TeamComment -

#1008I see LTC as the "Little Engine that Could", but just has a hard time getting over the hump with the disparity in acceptance compared to Bitcoin. However, with the recent fiasco of Bitcoin transactions slowing to a crawl and becoming expensive, it may have motivated people to take a 2nd look at using LTC for normal everyday transactions while simply holding Bitcoin as savings and only using BTC for the larger transactions. If LTC can get adoption numbers alongside Bitcoin (which may happen with the recent developments in the Lightning development), I can very well see Litecoin being the transaction currency with Bitcoin being the savings/reserve currency.Comment -

Many of my transactions are now being done in LTC because of the fee and speed. Lee has LTC on the right track.Comment -

#1012Until the recent power struggle with bitcoin coming to a head, Litecoin was nice test for bitcoin with SegWit and soon Lightning. Now I agree with your points that LTC could be the dominant transaction currency.

#1015Thanks for the info and advice. So basically... it's sort of worthless keeping the BTC at an exchange? We're not going to gain anything extra from this?Comment
