Mike Tyson,a brilliant and articulate guy when he sticks to boxing history.
Since his daughter died they have been playing alot of Tyson stuff on tv.The guy really is a student of boxing and comes across as an academic when he talks about the history of boxing. You have to wonder how he gets sidetracked to go haywire in other segmnents of his life.I'll bet the guy will do something rash in the near future over the death of his daughter. My guess is that he won't last long sort of in the fashion of what happened to Kirby Pucket when he became a human train wreck. The guy could really reak some havoc if something or someone sets him off.Pity whomever may feel his wrath!

Anyone with me when they think for a year or two that Tyson was the greatest boxer of all time?He didn't have the competition to prove it but I think that was a moot point where a giant couldn't contain his rage. The guy fought mean ,mad and hungry.Who would have won a fight between Tyson and Andre the giant? That's a stupid question,Tyson's a real guy and Andre was a cartoon.Remember the Mighty Mouse Superman quote from the movie Stand By Me?Funny stuff.

First post of yours that I read completely - I also happen to agree with most of it.

I'm too young and haven't seen enough pre-1980 stuff to declare him the best ever, but I'd say he was the perfect heavyweight between 1986 and 1988 - lethal combination of raw power and incredible speed. He even had solid defensive skills (quick head movement, bobbing and ducking), which is unusual for a slugging heavyweight.

Hope he manages to live through his latest tragedy. What a crappy life.

BTW, the best entrance in boxing has and always will be Tyson coming out with a towel over his head. No BS. Just headed to the ring ready to go to war.

He also fought without socks... Badass ^

Tyson is a manic depressant and has to take medication to keep him under control. He also suffers fits of rage because he's bipolar to boot. I hope he can keep himself under control after this terrible loss.

If Cus Damato didn't die, Tyson would have been the greatest of all time. He was the only guy who he listened to and Cus wouldn't tolerate BS and would make sure Rooney trained his ass off. Once he left Rooney it was over. Look at his defensive decline after that. He went from a boxer that didn't get hit to a slugger who tried to trade punches. Once he lost his boxing skills he was done.

Classic example of hanging around with the wrong crowd.

At first I hated Tyson. But as the years went by I developed an appreciation of him.
Yeah, he beat some people impressively. But really, Spinks didn't come to fight. He beat an aging Holmes, some other clowns and lost to Douglass. Didn't fight Holyfield at the time. Lewis fought much better quality opponents. Although, you wouldn't want to watch.

Tyson always struck me as someone trying to come off as articulate, but coming off as a phony.

Throw out a couple big words and expect people to think you're a scholar.

My opinion is he's dumb as a box of rocks.
