Pat Quinn takes over as Oilers head coach

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Oilers added some veteran leadership to their bench Tuesday, naming Pat Quinn their new head coach.


Quinn has been out of the league since being fired as coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs following the 2005-06 season.


He led the Canadian national team to gold at the world junior championship in Ottawa earlier this year.

Yeah except the world junior team had boys on the roster, not girls like Horcoff/Moreau/Hemsky

Good for him. I have a soft spot for him since, not only did he coach the juniors to gold this past winter, he was coach of our gold medal winning team at the 2002 Olympics.

I thought the Wild were supposed to hire him?I wonder if guys like Quinn that move around alot buy house's everytime they get hired?Lemaire's wife wouldn't live in Minnesota and Jaques had her living in Florida.Kind of strange?Isn't Quinn a lawyer like Tony Lerussa?You can be your own agent and file a suit when you get unjustly fired.
