Republic airways absolutely ****** up. There was a lot that should have happened before that point. But when it comes time to close the doors and there are 1 too many passengers, it is what it is and the gate agents have to get plane moving.

People have to remember how many other flights were impacted. Everywhere that plane was supposed to be next 24 hours (prob 5-6 flights for that kind of jet), every flight that crew and the deadheading crew were supposed to work. All impacted. A 2 hour delay because of this yahoo literally impacted thousands of customers all because he felt he was too important to take a later flight.

How bout they come up a system where they dont need to kick customers off the plane (and waste their time) to keep things running smoothly. Guarantee you if somebody had to literally be dragged out everytime they needed a seat, they would figure something out pretty quickly.

I could say he should have paid more for his ticket and he wouldn't have been on that list. It's terrible. Involuntary denied boarding happens in 0.4 times per 1000 passengers or something. It happens. Most of the time it's because a seat is broken on the previous flight and there is 1 fewer seats. On rare instances it's something like this. When you buy your ticket you agree to the rules that are posted regarding this process.


I fly somewhere every week, many weeks on 4 or more flights a week. It's just part of doing business. Shit happens when you travel. Plane could have had mechanical and gone no where and he would be in same position.

United should have not allowed them to get on the plane it they overbooked. Not excusing the overbooking bullshit by any means but that should all have been resolved before anyone boarded.

BINGO!!!!! This entire situation could have been avoided without incident. The gate agents obviously know there are four too many people for the number of seats on the plane, so handle the situation BEFORE you allow anyone to board. Why would you board the plane knowing you have to go force four people to get off? Makes no sense whatsoever. These gate agents weren't well trained. I've never seen an overbooking situation where $1,000 doesn't get the airline all the volunteers it needs.
