It's been so long since I was there that I just have vague memories of the track layout.Maybe alot has changed?I remember the area of the town called Speedway where it's located was sort of Jerry Springeresque where everyone had cars on blocks in their front yards and they were souping up engines.
I think there were some hotels right next to the track that overlooked it like suites in ballparks?
There was the INDY 500 museum in the infield of the track but it was closed late on a Sunday afternoon when I was there.I think you got to drive across the main track to go to the museum.
Anyone remember the good ol southern boy redneck in the beat up pickup truck that drove onto the track the day after the race about 4 years ago and got killed?
Is there anyone from Indianapolis here as a forum member?Any talk of taking bets all throughout Indiana on the 500?Lottery terminals, pari mutual windows at the horse tracks, wheeling a bunch of auto tote machines in to the 500 for race day?Man,the pari mutual handle would solve some of Indiana's budget deficit and it would be outsiders betting.
What's with all the euro sissy boy transplants to south america being so good at winning the 500?
