I seen his story on Outside the Lines a couple weeks ago. He was a junkie X 4. Only way he felt amends to many was to get back into football and play well. He got a chance with Indy and did pretty well. Very interesting to see.

I saw him at the Green Bay training camp his first year and then the next and you could tell he got off roids in that time frame. He was 40 pounds heavier his first camp with no fat and the next year he was fatter and weighed less.Just as was the case with most roids abusers like Schwarznegger,** Guire,Sosa and Bonds, roids got them a whole lot more in life than they were capable of doing on their own.Arnold is the worst of the lot though by being a hypocrite to the point of being on the presidential fitness commission where he lectures kids about being out of shape.Even though I'm out of shape,I would like to lace into him about his roid use if he ever lectured me.hehe!Arnold wants to make people believe he's a self made man. What the hell would he be right now if he never used roids?A little man that has a foreign lisp.He would only be capable of holding down a wage slave job.The funny thing is,I live in the northern boonies but so many of the people brought up on the forum have ties to my area and I think people think I'm full of BS when I talk about them.Arny went to college at University of Wisconsin Superior an hour south of me connected to Duluth.Guys a few years older than me were huge Arny fans and used to watch him work out, take his advice and probably alot more.Another bigtime bodybuilder named Mike ** Donald had a ''roids''shop right in my hometown and he just happened to be from Superior. All the guys that I knew had a sort of a cherry picked ringer laced all star traveling softball team.Every last one of them could jack the ball over the fence and they never hit for singles. It was like a circus where balls were just flying over the fence steady right down the street from me.It was all because of friggin phoney Arnold why these guys were stud athletes.I see these guys now and even though they have the excuse of being old, they are all shrivelled up weak old men that I could kick sand in their faces at the beach.

I hate to be a name dropper but a guy I was good friends with from Thunder Bay,Ontario named Don Saccino went to prison in Winnipeg for setting up a diet supplement front outfit that sold roids.I'm not sure if Tony was a client but alot of pro athletes from Canada were and testified at his trial. The name of this Don's company was Pompey I believe.

As a Packers fan, he broke my heart. As an Indy fan, I rooted for his comeback. People make mistakes.

It's a shame that Ron Wolf & Mike Holmgren being touted as such a brain trust couldn't see through the steroids to what this guy really was. Or maybe they did. Mandarich probably could have been a fine NFL player without ever having touched steroids. That's probably the saddest part of this whole story.

I remember the "incredible bulk" SI cover that Tony had like it was yesterday....

regarding Arnold and steroids... he took about 10% of what today's bodybuilders take....

You are dead wrong on that. Arnold took a ton of juice in his prime. There is now way he only took 10% of what today's bodybuilders take. No way in hell.

guys today are light years away from the 80's bodybuilders.... its not due to "working harder" or GNC...avg pro bodybuilder today is about 70 lbs heavier then back in the 70's

I agree but so the steroids and supplements are also more advanced. I do not agree that Arnold only took 10% of the amount of steroids that today's bodybuilders take.

He has had some health issues due to his steroid use.

Bodybuilders are sick. Why would anyone want to walk around like that? Nevermind the associated health problems.

Considering Chi_Archie is probably the best in shape on this thread, I agree with his thinking. Compared to what they take today, Arnold was on nothing.

guys in the 70's would only take roids for 8 weeks of so prior to contests.... they didn't juice off season, they actually were smaller despite having more fat on them, during the offseason... now bodybuilders are stuff constantly.... in the offseason they might be as big as 350 pounds and cut down to 280, 290.... there must have almost 10 guys that have died onstage, backstage, ect during contests....

bodybuilding hardcore is the most unhealthy "sport" there is

I know a guy that did bodybuilding as a sport. He seems to confirm that the sport is dirty as hell. At least that's the indication I get when I consult him about these banned substances in other sports, as he laughs out loud, as if we were talking about Pez.

the tony mandarich story is great because of his blunt honesty..... plus it is amazing that a dude that high on painkillers could even begin to compete in the NFL......
