OT - One f#&$ing month till f#&$ing Christmas

The wife got some shopping done yesterday in those early bird sales. Not completely done, but I think this is the earliest she has got anything done for Christmas.

If it wasnt for my son, I could give two shiets about this season. I still dont care for it, but I make it worth while for my son.

I hate the traffic and it seems the stupid drivers get even more retarded this time of year.

I get shopping done, but only once I end up somewhere to shop which rarely happens. Mainly Internet purchases for me.

Not much family for me, little shopping plus broke and need money to gamble.

Mudcat must get coal in his stocking, this guy reminds me of scrooge, I am not Holiday guy myself.

My Christmas gift to Mudcat is I am not going to bash him anymore, I got bored of it.

Mudcat send me $600 and we call everything even and I will forgive you.

And I fucking hate Christmas music. HATE IT! I haven't started hearing it yet this year but it's only a matter of time before they start piping it into the grocery store etc.

There are a few respectable Xmas songs out there. That one by The Pogues is good. I like Merry Christmas Emily by Cracker.

That sort of catches my Christmas spirit.

I really hate the commercial aspect of christmas. The whole season is really about keeping people in a cycle of spending and debt. Many people can't pay off their christmas debts until well into the following year which is crazy.

4 years ago I started not buying gifts for people. I just decided that I was going to opt out of the commercial side of the holiday and just rest and spend time with family. I started letting them know mid-year and they thought I was kidding at first and it took a while for some people to get used to it but now I am out of the gift-giving business. I only buy one gift for my girlfriend but no one else gets anything.

And you know what? Everyone has gotten used to it. No one expects anything from me and they are relieved of the burden of buying me anything. A couple of people in my family still insist on buying me a small gift just because they can't seem to break out of the commercial cycle that christmas keeps them in but most understand and accept it happily. Its one of the best choices I ever made.

Sure enough, at the grocery store today, Xmas music was being piped in. Elvis Presley, Blue Christmas.

That was actually not so bad in and of itself, but it is a bad omen and things can only get worse.

It's getting worse. I was just out and about. The DVD store was piping in that dreadful Oh the weather outside is fucking frightful song and they have a special section for godawful Christmas movies.

The drugstore was piping in that horrendous Do you see what I fucking see song.
