Fines in sports are silly.....

well baseball's are for the most part... the Nfl can fine guy's pretty heavy.

Bobby Jenks got fined 750 bucks for admitting to throwing behind Ian Kinsler's head.....

750 bucks???? the guy makes 5.6 million....

or look at it this way, if you take his salary and divide it by the number of pitches he made last year total (816) assuming he'll pitch about the same amount this year.....

and Jenks makes 6,862.74 per pitch......

so that 750 dollar fine? just knocked 10.9% off of his earning for that pitch behind kinsler's head...... he still made over 6k on it though.

only real punishment is suspension, that takes over closer to 25-50k off of a player's salary per game.

so why give out silly little fine's like that?

I know an NHL goaltender that was always borrowing money at Slo Pitch games because he didnt get the $ from his 3 Million dollar contract until August every year.

He should have to DH -- or hit in the pitcher's slot during interleague play this weekend -- for 10 games for doing that. Having the DH allows for AL pitchers to do pussy things like that.

Baseball should be like hockey. If a pitcher throws at a batter and the batter goes out there to beat his ass. They should be allowed to fight until one or both fall down, then the refs jump in and they get a 3 inning penalty. Of course if any other player jumps in they get the jumping in penalty of 5 innings in the penalty box. Just like hockey the team will have to play a man short for a couple of innings.
