    Question about making home-made videos
I am having thoughts about experimenting with the sort of videos I see people posting. I am the forum shmuck when it comes to technology. What do I need? A friend of mine lent me a video camera yesterday but I sense it is old technology. Like it uses a cassette of some kind. I guess that means it's not digital.

Can that sort of thing be used to make short videos and upload (download?) them to my computer and then e-mail them or post them on YouTube or whatever?

Or if I wanted to beg, borrow or steal a camera, what would I look for? If I was going to buy, I would be looking for something cheap. I am not a cheapskate but there is a real chance I would fiddle around with it once and then say, "Meh," and never use it again and relegate it to paperweight status.

    Any tips?

I wouldn't mess with that old video camera.

Any recent digital camera will allow you to record decent videos that are easily uploaded to Youtube/SBR.tv. Anything made by Canon is excellent, even the bargain bin stuff.

This will make good-looking videos on top of being an excellent still camera.

Okay here's a possibly stupid question. I have a digital camera that I figured was just for stills but it has a setting on it that appears to be a stylized movie camera.

This camera is a Canon Powershot A430. Is it possible that it would do the job? (The job being to record a song probably 3-4 minutes.)

I guess I should go hunting for the manual.

'Powershot' video cameras are used specifically in the porno industry. It was named 'Powershot' b/c it captures perfectly when you give a chick a jizzblast shower to the face.

Is your old buddy Ron Jeremy?

Yeah thanks. I have loaded still pics to my PC using this camera - so I have cords/connections etc. - but it just didn't occur to me that it might do videos as well. It looks too small and innocent to hold a whole video.

I think I may have had what I needed all along. I truly am the boob of boobs.

Quick tip, Mudcat. When you're filming with one hand try not to jack off with the other. Ruins the shot. And doesn't go down too well at a funeral.

If it is an older digital camera...make sure that it has a mic. I know my older one didn't have one but I ran out and bought a new digital camera for about 100 bucks which was a lot better than my old one and it works well.

This will work perfectly. It does movies with sound.

Freakin' hell though. I think there is something wrong with it. When I turn on the power I get a message saying Lens error, restart camera - over and over.

Hopefully there is some remedy in the troubleshooting section of the manual (which I still haven't dug up.) Otherwise I guess I'll be trying to dig up warranties and taking the thing to a freaking repair shop of some description.

                          Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

This is valuable advice, what with my inexperience with making videos combined with my constantly masturbating ways.
