The Winston Salem Journal reports - Coach Jim Grobe said yesterday that Ben
Mauk, a sophomore from Kenton, Ohio, will start in place of senior Cory
Randolph against the Wolfpack. Grobe said he will enter the game expecting
Mauk to play every offensive play.

UL LAFAYETTE - QB Jerry Babb (shoulder) upgraded from doubtful to "?", but is not expected to start.
The Advertiser reports - Michael Desormeaux has taken every snap since
Babb's injury and took most of the snaps with the first unit in Wednesday's
final contact drills. He is listed as the starter for Saturday's Sun Belt
Conference contest at Middle Tennessee, with Babb upgraded to questionable
on the official depth chart.

week can do for you. It feels like day and night right now. I've really relaxed
for the past six days, I haven't been doing too much. I've been getting
massages and doing a lot of stretching and ultrasound. We've been hitting it
hard for the last week and it's really coming around." The test, Thornton said,
will be how he feels when he wakes up this morning. ''[Yesterday] is really
the first day I skated, so I'll wake up and see how it is [today] and how it
is after the morning skate, but right now it feels pretty good, so hopefully
I'll be able to go [tonight]," he said.

The Boston Briuns website reports - Boston Bruins team captain, Joe Thornton,
will be in the lineup tonight after being sidelined for the last three games
with a bad back. Joe's return couldn't have come at a better time with the team
returning home for just their second home game of the season.

The Tulsa World reports - Although Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy won't
discuss his quarterback situation, it seems likely that sophomore Al Pena
will get his second start of the season when the Cowboys play at Iowa
State on Saturday. Reid has been on the practice field this week, but his
participation has been limited. Pena continues to get the majority of
snaps with the first-team offense.
