In a sense though we the consumer also will be paying a portion of that import tax indirectly as the Mexican imported products will be marked up for the American consumer in markets and stores..

D2 let me break it down further for you so you understand..

Both US and Mexico will share that import tax in the beginning but if Mexican imported products get to expensive for American consumers they will stop buying them in markets and stores.. This will create a demand and market for Americans to start manufacturing these same products here in America..

In the end America wins with more American made and manufacturing products and with more jobs and tax revenue created...

THIS IS WHY I SAID I LOVE IT.. Gotta think deeper into the economic effects of these bold moves and believe me when I say Trump and his people already have thought this out.
