I think he ended 5 separate innings in those 7 outs
don't think he hit a ball hard fair or foul...... he's way off

Yeah, I had the Over 9.5 at even money for $250. The game should have at least 12 or 13 runs scored in my opinion. It looked strong early but then there were sooooo many missed scoring opportunities it was sick. I'll put this down as my worst beat so far this MLB season.

So what's the deal with him? I have wondered. Was he on roids when he was putting up the big numbers and now he's stopped for whatever reason and his true skillz are showing through?

That and he misses Manny's presence in the lineup.

Good question Mudcat, he's become a liability in the 3 hole. Jason Bay is having a strong year but Ortiz is really struggling. He's hitting .208 and hasn't even gone yard yet.

As a Sox fan, I saw a decline coming after last year. I think his "injury" that he blamed on his lack of production was just a smoke screen for the truth. A lot of people think that steroids gives you the power to hit balls out of the park. Actually, for hitters the steroids help with bat speed. Ortiz was getting around on a lot of balls in his "prime" and now sans roids' he doesn't have the bat or wrist speed he once had. I hate to say it, but Ortiz was a roid user in my mind.

Ortiz's bat speed did look extremely slow yesterday
guys have slumps like this all the time.... every great hitter goes through it... but when it is at the beginning of the year it is alot more conspicuous.... and when steroids are on everyone's minds then people get suspecious alot quicker....
at his age he is on a decline and no steroids to help you recover from game to game and no amphetamines to get you jacked for 150+ games a year will cause 33-40 year olds to start showing the natural decline that baseball players used to show.....
No more fountain of youth Barry Bonds has career highs at age 39 shit....
I think the Peak age for MLB players is 27 or 28

So they're sticking with him in the 3 spot, huh? I complain about the Blue Jays 3 man, Alex Rios, but his .265/4/18 look pretty good by comparison.

Probably roids, and since his injury last year he hasnt been the same some people say hes lost it i agree. Also his hitting coach claims hes swinging to late with his wrists which gets him behind pitches and loses his power but he still hasnt solved it i think big papi can change his name to big popout

that wrist screwed him....... he's done now IMO. I refuse to believe that the guy was on the juice. Injuries and him getting older is the real cause
