What the hell do you think the P&I payment is supposed to be on a $60-$70k shack? I have a few lower priced rentals that have mortgages with similar payments on 20 year amortizations. If you are way above that then obviously, but not surprisingly, you are either in subprime product or flat out scammed.

As for the other stuff, its easily verifiable you live in a dump of a district. Schools rated at the bottom of the barrel and high crime define your area. Nobody with any means whatsoever would live there as its a terrible area with limited options for growth. Property values continue to stay deflated and all future projections predict the same.

I am really surprised about this. I thought that Canada had higher taxes in general than the US but I live in a significantly more expensive house in a high property tax/value location and my annual property taxes are only a little more than Bobby's.

Read again, never said P & I had anything to do with taxes. Said you conveniently left out property taxes, which the vast majority of intelligent homeowners include in their mortgage. You had no choice but to leave out taxes, as it wouldn't fit your agenda otherwise.

I will concur with BW here....property taxes in the state of NJ are one of the highest in the nation. It's not out of the norm to pay 4-5000 a year tax on a "lower" priced home......have a friend of ours who just bought a 300k home in Atlantic County.....propery taxes 9k a year
