Never really understood why the Electoral system was made?

Wouldn't more people go out to vote... if we elected the President of the USA on Popular Vote alone?

I just feel your vote would be MORE IMPORTANT on Popular Vote alone.

I don't understand how it's not possible to understand the electoral college. If it was the pop vote, they'd campaign in 5 cities for a year and a half.

I think most Republicans thought the electoral map favored Hillary and was rigged a bit, but in the end it saved Trump and the Republican Party from a loss... Oh the irony of it all!!!!

California is destroying themselves economically because they keep electing political Liberal morons like Governor Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown who think that being green is the most important thing in the world, even if that drives out all of California's industries. This is why California is in so much trouble. The Upper Middle class small business owners are being replaced by low income Hispanics.

I like the electoral college. It is a sort of buffer for the country so that states don't totally dominate the election. You can't go into the game knowing the rules and then get bitter after you lost. All credit goes to Trump, he did it against some crazy odds.

As someone who voted for him, not to sure about that...would've gotten called a socialist and atheist(even though he isnt) and that wouldve probably been enough to beat him. Plus he is also a career politician.

No way he wouldn't have fared better in Ohio, PA, Wisconsin, and Michigan than Clinton did. Michigan and PA would have been clear wins as would NH. I happen to think Wisconsin would have been a lock as well. Plenty of white voters in WI would have voted for Bernie. That would have been enough
