An alcoholic is not easily defined. Is it one that cannot stop at one drink? Is it one that needs a drink every day? Is it one that gets pissed completely, once per week?

I too have had my issues. When I get drunk, I get absolutely hammered. And I mean blackout drunk where I may remember half of my night at best. I can only go by what you said. You said very clearly that that you have had issues drinking. You said you have gotten blackout drunk where who knows what happened next. Maybe you took multiple dicks up the ass? Maybe you drove a car or a boat like Fernandez? Bottom line, in those moments of stupor, you were very fortunate to be alive today. Anyone drinking themselves to blackout level are also very close to dying from alcohol poisoning. It sounds like you've found ways to moderate your drinking. That's great, most alcoholics cannot do that. That's why they're alcoholics. Your advice to tell an alcoholic to moderate is reckless and irresponsible. You obviously do not understand this addiction. That first drink is what does it for the alcoholic. That 1 drink is what can kill. just like that 1 crack hit, heroin spike, gambling rush. If people could self moderate it wouldn't be an addiction.

You want to know if you are an alcoholic or not? Stop drinking cold turkey for a year. If you can go the next 12 months without drinking then you do not have a problem. My hunch is that you can't stop for 12 days.

I dated an alcoholic, she was a beautiful model that had everything going for her. I saw her downward spiral and it was slow and painful. She would miss photo shoots, auditions, etc. Her lies, denials, broken promises was too much for me to handle. Your girlfriend is an idiot if she stays by your side while you self destruct.
