I mean, I read all kinds of sh!t on here about bookies moving a line on purpose in order to create a false steam, and then theories abound about bookies knowing the winner beforehand so they hang an attractive line on the loser, but the reality is that in this age of corporate bookmakers their goal is to balance the book and profit from the vig.
Its true that when the lines go up, books will preempt the public side and go as high on the favourite as they can get away with, but once the market matures its solely the weight of money that shapes the closing line.
